What if earning more than you need while doing work you love is not something you have to prove yourself worthy of, but something you were born worthy of receiving?
Kate welcomes business and relationship coach Marla Mattenson for the first conversation in a powerful series exploring women, money, worth and financial abundance. Together, they unpack why so many women feel anxious, ashamed or disempowered around money, even when they are earning well, and how those patterns are often connected to deeper emotional experiences.
Marla introduces the concept of your financial birthright and explains how unresolved stories from the past can influence what you believe you are capable of receiving today. She also shares a simple practice for becoming more at peace with your personal timeline, releasing shame and opening yourself to greater purpose, opportunity and abundance.
Their conversation also explores money and time as human-created ideas, why worry is not the same as love, and how sensitivity, intuition and spiritual awareness can become powerful strengths in both life and business.
This conversation invites you to examine the stories shaping your relationship with money, honour the gifts that make you unique and become more available for the life you truly want.
In This Episode We Explore:
- What it means to claim your financial birthright
- How past experiences shape your relationship with money
- Why shame, worry and people-pleasing can limit what you receive
- How sensitivity and intuition can support abundance
- A simple practice for creating peace with your past
- Why purpose and financial success can look different for every woman
Your Practice for This Week:
Repeat the following claim and notice what thoughts, memories or objections arise:
“I am at complete peace with my entire timeline from conception through this present moment.”
Rather than analyzing or judging what surfaces, capture it in writing or a voice note. Choose one experience and spend a few moments offering your past self the love, reassurance and presence she needed at that time.

Your financial birthright means you were born
Marla Mattenson:worthy. You're here on Earth. You are a person. You have a
Marla Mattenson:body. You are worthy of your financial birthright, which is
Marla Mattenson:to consistently receive more than you need doing what you
Marla Mattenson:love. And so, I teach people who are business owners how to
Marla Mattenson:consistently earn more than they need doing the work they love,
Marla Mattenson:and and that alone, that statement. If you allow that in,
Marla Mattenson:just that statement alone will start tuning your body and your
Marla Mattenson:vibration up to a different claim than probably you're used
Marla Mattenson:to. So we're used to just getting by or getting what we
Marla Mattenson:need when we need it, and my claim is the birthright of every
Marla Mattenson:human on this planet is to be able to consistently earn more
Marla Mattenson:than they need doing the work they love.
Kate Harlow:Hello, beautiful! Welcome back to the New Truth
Kate Harlow:Podcast. Welcome back, Marla. I'm so stoked to be here. So
Kate Harlow:freaking happy to have you here, and to have you here, we should
Kate Harlow:have looked up the the title of our other podcast episode that
Kate Harlow:we did. I think it was around relationships because you really
Kate Harlow:are an expert in both love and money, but you are the most
Kate Harlow:badass woman I have ever met in my life around money and and
Kate Harlow:frequency and worth and living fully into our worth around
Kate Harlow:money as women, and this is such an important conversation. You
Kate Harlow:know, women haven't had money for very long. It's been like
Kate Harlow:since the '60s or something. I'm sure you have more info on that,
Kate Harlow:but this conversation is so important. We've never had
Kate Harlow:someone on an expert on to talk about women and their
Kate Harlow:relationship with money. So I am so happy to have you here and be
Kate Harlow:doing this with you.
Marla Mattenson:Amazing! Wow, that's incredible. I will say I
Marla Mattenson:am not the expert on everything money. I am the expert on some
Marla Mattenson:things, money, and so I think that's important to mention. I'm
Marla Mattenson:still absolutely learning so much about money in all kinds of
Marla Mattenson:ways, and so I want to share what I've some of the things
Marla Mattenson:I've learned along the journey. I was just telling Zoe; she's my
Marla Mattenson:almost 17-year-old stepdaughter. Last night, nobody really taught
Marla Mattenson:me about money. I mean, I learned very little from my
Marla Mattenson:family. Mostly secret thing, keep things private and secret,
Marla Mattenson:and don't ask for help unless it's urgent. And you know, just
Marla Mattenson:not nothing. I had to go out and find mentors and learn and
Marla Mattenson:unlearn about money in order to be where I am now. Which is, I
Marla Mattenson:don't worry about money. I don't really even think about money
Marla Mattenson:all that much, except for I, I have chosen to put money as a
Marla Mattenson:priority in my life, and it's still, I'll I'll tell you, it's
Marla Mattenson:still slightly uncomfortable and also not natural. It's not the
Marla Mattenson:thing I think about on a on a regular basis. I choose to focus
Marla Mattenson:on it.
Kate Harlow:I love that, and and I love. I I don't know if
Kate Harlow:I'm paraphrasing exactly, but the the prioritizing of your
Kate Harlow:relationship with money, and that being a choice, and how I
Kate Harlow:mean, I think we're all we're all innocent. I'll say we don't
Kate Harlow:know what we don't know until we know, and now we have choice.
Kate Harlow:And I just think how many women are disempowered around their
Kate Harlow:relationship with money, even if they make really good money.
Kate Harlow:There's still so much dysfunction in women's
Kate Harlow:relationship with money, and I imagine because there's so much,
Kate Harlow:so many things happening underneath that are so much
Kate Harlow:deeper that I know you'll get into, but I think that it's such
Kate Harlow:a beautiful thing. I feel like that's what's inspired me around
Kate Harlow:you, and why I wanted to have this conversation with you, and
Kate Harlow:how you've inspired me as a friend over the years. Just
Kate Harlow:because there, to me, it's like how you hold yourself around
Kate Harlow:your relationship with money, and I think women, you know,
Kate Harlow:it's not something we talk about. It's not something we
Kate Harlow:learn about. And isn't it crazy? Like we all have to have money.
Kate Harlow:We all have to make money. We all have to to to to spend all
Kate Harlow:this money to live on this planet. Animals don't, but we
Kate Harlow:do. And and yet nobody teaches us how anywhere.
Marla Mattenson:It's it's almost criminal. It it I rarely
Marla Mattenson:should. However, I will make an exception, and I believe we
Marla Mattenson:should be teaching not just women but everybody about money
Marla Mattenson:and financial literacy and the energetics around. Money in
Marla Mattenson:grade school because that's when it's easier to learn, and the
Marla Mattenson:challenge with that would be all of the parents of the children
Marla Mattenson:learning these things, and the teachers who would be teaching
Marla Mattenson:those things would need to be on the journey of embodiment of
Marla Mattenson:financial abundance, and and really have activated what we
Marla Mattenson:call your financial birthright, and to me, I'll just jump right
Marla Mattenson:into that. Your financial birthright means you were born
Marla Mattenson:worthy. You're here on Earth. You are a person. You have a
Marla Mattenson:body. You are worthy of your financial birthright, which is
Marla Mattenson:to consistently receive more than you need, doing what you
Marla Mattenson:love, and so I teach people who are business owners how to
Marla Mattenson:consistently earn more than they need doing the work they love,
Marla Mattenson:and and that alone, that statement, if you allow that in,
Marla Mattenson:just that statement alone will start tuning your body and your
Marla Mattenson:vibration up to a different claim than probably you're used
Marla Mattenson:to. So we're used to just getting by or getting what we
Marla Mattenson:need when we need it. And my claim is the birthright of every
Marla Mattenson:human on this planet is to be able to consistently earn more
Marla Mattenson:than they need doing the work they love, and that statement
Marla Mattenson:carries an energetic that if you claim it, I consistently earn
Marla Mattenson:more than I need doing the work I love. What starts to happen is
Marla Mattenson:you start to hear two voices arise at the same time. Ooh, I
Marla Mattenson:love that. Yes, I want that. Oh, yes, that is my birthright. And
Marla Mattenson:you lean in, and then the other voice comes up, and the other
Marla Mattenson:voice says, "No, you can't. Never
Unknown:have that. You never have that, right?
Marla Mattenson:That's the legend. Yes, right. It starts to
Marla Mattenson:sit. It starts to poke at it, and that's exactly what we want.
Marla Mattenson:We want both of those voices to arise at the same time. We want
Marla Mattenson:both of those voices to arise with equal value, not
Marla Mattenson:overvaluing the good, lovely voice that's saying yes, I can
Marla Mattenson:have this. Equally valuing the voice that says no, you cannot,
Marla Mattenson:because that actually voice is where all of the gold is to
Marla Mattenson:excavate and sit with and be with and and transmute it so
Marla Mattenson:that actually the whole thing lifts, and then the as you lift,
Marla Mattenson:the voices you hear change. They get more subtle. They get more
Marla Mattenson:nuanced. They lose their power of shame and blame and wrong
Marla Mattenson:making. And well, I never learned that, and nobody taught
Marla Mattenson:me, and you know all of those things. And then you start
Marla Mattenson:moving into solutions, and you start becoming aware of
Marla Mattenson:opportunities, and where you're leaving money on the table, and
Marla Mattenson:where you said yes when you meant no, and you people pleased
Marla Mattenson:instead of asking for that raise, or instead of saying, "I
Marla Mattenson:don't want to work at this job anymore. I want to do my own
Marla Mattenson:thing. I want to get out there, and I want to do the healing
Marla Mattenson:work I've been practicing. You know, so I'll pause on that.
Kate Harlow:It's I just think like how many women carry deep
Kate Harlow:deep shame around money, and you know, and the golden handcuffs
Kate Harlow:of staying in the job. This is a consistent conversation that I
Kate Harlow:have with women I work with. Is that once they really start to
Kate Harlow:tap into that soul frequency and like the truth of who they are,
Kate Harlow:they're like, oh God, I cannot fit into that square peg
Kate Harlow:anymore. Like the the the the thing they've been doing, the
Kate Harlow:golden handcuffs, like doing the thing. And a lot of the times
Kate Harlow:they make great money, but they're not enjoying any of it
Kate Harlow:because they have golden handcuffs doing this work that's
Kate Harlow:sucking the life out of them. That I think that I feel like
Kate Harlow:that is such a common place for women to end up, where it's like
Kate Harlow:maybe on fantasy on paper it looks like they have you know
Kate Harlow:the financial wealth, but it's not real wealth because they're
Kate Harlow:not really satiating in
Marla Mattenson:it. Right. Okay. So let's get into let's
Marla Mattenson:get into this. So what even is money? Let's let's just start
Marla Mattenson:there, because there's so much story around. Well, I have to
Marla Mattenson:stay at the job. I have to do this. I I can't do anything
Marla Mattenson:else. I don't know what else to do, or I don't have training for
Marla Mattenson:something else. Whatever, all of the the thoughts that might
Marla Mattenson:arise at the core. Money is an idea. It's an idea, and at the
Marla Mattenson:at the original idea of money was intended to be helpful. So
Marla Mattenson:instead of carrying around 12 bushels of you know. Fruits in
Marla Mattenson:exchange for you know your cow, you know you we made this thing
Marla Mattenson:called money to say oh these these coins are gonna represent
Marla Mattenson:all of this and so when I exchange your cow for these
Marla Mattenson:coins that's that's the new value right and then we had in
Marla Mattenson:the United States we had what's called the gold standard, where
Marla Mattenson:in Fort Knox in the United States we actually had gold that
Marla Mattenson:represented all of the cash in the United States flowing in
Marla Mattenson:dollars and coins, and then the gold standard went away, and we
Marla Mattenson:don't have that money backing anymore, and so money is truly
Marla Mattenson:an idea, and money is not only currency of you know dollars or
Marla Mattenson:euros or shekels or you know yen or whatever the currency is
Marla Mattenson:around the globe. Money is also now in the form of crypto, and
Marla Mattenson:in a barter exchange is still a thing. People barter. I mean,
Marla Mattenson:when I was a body worker, I was a massage therapist in my early
Marla Mattenson:20s for about 15 years, and I used to do all kinds of
Marla Mattenson:exchanges. Anybody in the healing arts does exchanges. You
Marla Mattenson:know, I'll give you five massages in exchange. You make
Marla Mattenson:me a handmade lamp. Okay, I did that. This woman, this one
Marla Mattenson:woman, made these gorgeous beaded lamps, and they were, you
Marla Mattenson:know, 1000s of dollars. And I was like, I will exchange my
Marla Mattenson:services in for a lamp, right? And I loved that lamp. So barter
Marla Mattenson:is still alive and well, and money is changing. We are in a
Marla Mattenson:time of great transition and global economy, and we are
Marla Mattenson:something new is emerging. So, even getting stuck on money as
Marla Mattenson:the main form of payment and receiving and paying your bills
Marla Mattenson:and income and expenses, all of that is changing as well. So the
Marla Mattenson:idea is, can you look at money as just a pure idea, and then
Marla Mattenson:start taking a look at how you lay storylines on top of that
Marla Mattenson:idea of money? And by the way, if money is too tender of a
Marla Mattenson:topic for you, you can do the same thing with time, because
Marla Mattenson:time is also an idea. Both of these are constructs that humans
Marla Mattenson:created to make life easier. However, we have lovingly taken
Marla Mattenson:on all of these ideas and used them to harm ourselves, this is
Marla Mattenson:what we tend to do with with as humans. We take on this idea of
Marla Mattenson:money, and now I'm going to use it to shame myself. I have this
Marla Mattenson:idea of time now. There's not enough time, and I'm always
Marla Mattenson:behind. I can't get everything done. Now I'm time shaming
Marla Mattenson:myself, and so we're using this pure idea to harm ourselves, and
Marla Mattenson:so the idea is to look at how can we shift our ideas of money,
Marla Mattenson:and I'll expand that to time as well, because sometimes it's
Marla Mattenson:easier to notice where you're in lack mentality around time, and
Marla Mattenson:make that shift first, and now you're moving beyond lack
Marla Mattenson:mentality because you're not in the frequency of not enough, not
Marla Mattenson:enough, and you start moving into the frequency of there's
Marla Mattenson:more than enough. There's more than enough time for me to do
Marla Mattenson:what I need to do, and I can just let it go at the end of the
Marla Mattenson:day. And whatever got done got done. Whatever didn't get done
Marla Mattenson:didn't get done. And I'll have my list for tomorrow. And I
Marla Mattenson:always have an ongoing list that never gets accomplished always,
Marla Mattenson:because there's always more to do than you can get done. And
Marla Mattenson:that's the beauty of having a vision in life, having a
Marla Mattenson:purpose, right? So I'll pause on that. How about
Kate Harlow:the idea of money and the idea of time. I love
Kate Harlow:that. Whenever I feel freaked out about how fast time's going,
Kate Harlow:I'm like, it was made up. It's a construct. It's not real. And
Kate Harlow:and and and two, what I love about what you're saying is
Kate Harlow:that, and I feel like it's connected to the number one way
Kate Harlow:women sabotage their relationship with money. But
Kate Harlow:it's like how we relate to the thing, and what's our what's our
Kate Harlow:perception of the thing, and our energy around the thing. So how?
Kate Harlow:So you say, okay, change these perspectives, or have I can't
Kate Harlow:remember the exact language you used, but how are we doing the
Kate Harlow:money, and what energy are you bringing to it? How does someone
Kate Harlow:who has no idea how to change those stories? Go about doing
Kate Harlow:so.
Marla Mattenson:Okay. Okay. Great. First of all, you nailed
Marla Mattenson:it. It's how we relate with these ideas. Okay. So that's a
Marla Mattenson:that's a really important piece. Now, when we talk about the
Marla Mattenson:number one way women sabotage their relationship with money,
Marla Mattenson:it's. Concept called vibrational accord. Okay, so we all know
Marla Mattenson:that we are both particle and wave. That we are everything is
Marla Mattenson:in vibration and tone in our world, and some things move at a
Marla Mattenson:faster vibration, and some things move slower. And we have
Marla Mattenson:we basically live in this dense field. We call it the common
Marla Mattenson:field. That's our 3d world reality. Where you know, I have
Marla Mattenson:this necklace and I can touch it, right? I have these curtains
Marla Mattenson:and I can touch them. I have this computer. Can't touch you
Marla Mattenson:physically right this moment, but when you're in person here,
Marla Mattenson:then I can hug you. Right, and so right, lots of hugs. So we
Marla Mattenson:have this common field that we live in, and this field is
Marla Mattenson:filled with fear. It's filled with fear. It is part of what we
Marla Mattenson:live in. We were born into this field of fear. That's not a
Marla Mattenson:problem. It's just a suchness. It just is true for us. However,
Marla Mattenson:we can feel that humanity is uplifting, and as we uplift,
Marla Mattenson:there is debris. There is detritus on the side of the
Marla Mattenson:riverbank. Okay, and this is basically what humanity as a
Marla Mattenson:whole has created over all of the years that we've been here,
Marla Mattenson:so before we can really uplift as a whole together, we have to
Marla Mattenson:look at what we've created-all the wars, all the violence, all
Marla Mattenson:of these things. Women tend to be more tapped into those
Marla Mattenson:things, and we don't want to participate in those. And so we
Marla Mattenson:shun those aside, and we want to only skew into the positive.
Marla Mattenson:Now, if we go back to what I said of holding both voices at
Marla Mattenson:the same time, the one, oh yes, I want my financial birthright.
Marla Mattenson:I deserve to consistently earn more than I need doing the work
Marla Mattenson:I love, and this negative voice is the voice of fear. That voice
Marla Mattenson:will be coming with you on the journey. It does not dissolve
Marla Mattenson:and go away completely, and so because even if you only
Marla Mattenson:surround yourself with the most amazing people in the world, and
Marla Mattenson:you only have high high vibe conversations, et cetera, go
Marla Mattenson:home and be with your family for five minutes, and you'll
Marla Mattenson:remember that things are different in the dense field
Marla Mattenson:where people are not doing the same consciousness work that you
Marla Mattenson:are, so we all have that experience. So we all uplift, we
Marla Mattenson:all drop. Okay, so now that we've normalized that, the idea
Marla Mattenson:of vibrational accord is to understand we are in constant
Marla Mattenson:manifestation. Instant manifestation is always
Marla Mattenson:happening. We're always in instant and constant
Marla Mattenson:manifestation. So the idea is, what have I manifested? And we
Marla Mattenson:take a look around. So the easiest and fastest way that I
Marla Mattenson:have found to take a look around is a claim. And if we do this
Marla Mattenson:together, you'll start noticing the other voice that arises.
Marla Mattenson:Okay, so here's the claim. You ready? Ready. All right. The
claim is:I am at complete peace with everything in my timeline
claim is:from conception when I was conceived, all the way through
claim is:this present moment, I am at complete peace with everything
claim is:in my timeline from conception through this present moment. And
claim is:if you're like a normal human, all these little voices will pop
claim is:up to go. I don't know about
Kate Harlow:1998, right?
Marla Mattenson:What about right? And then and then the
Marla Mattenson:list pops up. So what you do is you just capture that list.
Marla Mattenson:Don't analyze it. Don't do anything with it. Don't spiral
Marla Mattenson:into the depths of hell around it. Just capture it. Write it
Marla Mattenson:down, or record it. Record it in a voice note, okay? And that's
Marla Mattenson:the first place you go to heal. Those are the first places. The
Marla Mattenson:first ones that arose are the first ones to heal. It might
Marla Mattenson:have nothing to do with money. It might have nothing to do with
Marla Mattenson:time. It might have to do with something else tender. All these
Marla Mattenson:tender moments where your needs were not met, where you were not
Marla Mattenson:met in equality, when you were not met with love. Those
Marla Mattenson:traumas, little t or big T traumas, are lingering in our
Marla Mattenson:past timeline, waiting to be loved by us in our current
Marla Mattenson:state, and so this one exercise-if you do this-it
Marla Mattenson:doesn't cost any money. The only thing it costs is you must be
Marla Mattenson:willing to let go of the old. You must be willing to release
Marla Mattenson:the old storylines, and isn't your final. Financial birthright
Marla Mattenson:worth it. It might have no connection to money at all. It
Marla Mattenson:might be something that you know, like you know, when I ran
Marla Mattenson:away from home when I was 12, I had an experience where my
Marla Mattenson:parents basically made an announcement at my junior high
Marla Mattenson:school. Has anyone seen Marla Mattenson? And if so, please go
Marla Mattenson:to the office. She's missing, and I was mortified that they
Marla Mattenson:did that. Although they were terrified, and I had left at 330
Marla Mattenson:in the morning, I wrote a little note that said "run away from
Marla Mattenson:home" in my calendar. I had two duffel bags packed with my
Marla Mattenson:clothes. I took a box of Ritz crackers with me and put that in
Marla Mattenson:the bag, and $60 of my Hanukkah money, and I was ready to go,
Marla Mattenson:okay, and I left. And when I came back, I came back primarily
Marla Mattenson:because I still had braces on my teeth, and I was like, "When I
Marla Mattenson:can't have these on forever, so I came back. And but that whole
Marla Mattenson:experience and how they handled it-they were very loving when I
Marla Mattenson:came home. But the aftermath of dealing with people asking me
Marla Mattenson:questions about well where were you and what happened that
Marla Mattenson:brought up so much shame in me that that was one of the things
Marla Mattenson:that I needed to clear when I was going through this exercise
Marla Mattenson:myself and I have lots of things that I've needed to clear so the
Marla Mattenson:idea is you can do clearings in lots of different ways you can
Marla Mattenson:look that up on on how to clear things from the past, or you can
Marla Mattenson:also just be with it. And something my therapist taught me
Marla Mattenson:was Marla of today go back to that moment where Marla of the
Marla Mattenson:past was experiencing that, and you sit with her and let her
Marla Mattenson:touch your face and say, "Look, look who we are now. Look who we
Marla Mattenson:are today. What you're experiencing is has a purpose. I
Marla Mattenson:know it's painful, and I'm here with you, and you know, and
Marla Mattenson:yeah, that was bullshit. And you you become that voice of the
Marla Mattenson:adult of the loving presence of the adult for your own past
Marla Mattenson:self, and it is so loving and so healing. And you sit with
Marla Mattenson:yourself in your mind's eye in a meditative state. You can do it
Marla Mattenson:sitting. You can do it on a walk. You can be in nature. You
Marla Mattenson:can be in the shower. You can do this anywhere, and if you take
Marla Mattenson:the time to do this for just a couple minutes a day, the
Marla Mattenson:timeline of the past will, like a dominoes in both directions,
Marla Mattenson:clear itself. And then, when I now say I am at complete peace,
Marla Mattenson:complete peace with my entire timeline from conception through
Marla Mattenson:this moment. It's true, yeah.
Marla Mattenson:And this is I have more energy for this present moment to
Marla Mattenson:receive more and be more, because part of my energy is not
Marla Mattenson:holding at bay the shameful experiences that I've had over
Marla Mattenson:my life, which doesn't mean that I don't still have grief arise.
Marla Mattenson:It doesn't mean I don't have sadness about certain things
Marla Mattenson:that happened to my life. Still, it means that I am at peace with
Marla Mattenson:everything that has happened, and sometimes there's some
Marla Mattenson:grains of sand that come up and go. How about this? So it's not
Marla Mattenson:like you're
Kate Harlow:done because new
Marla Mattenson:things are also always happening. So I'm
Marla Mattenson:curious, how is learning about this one claim exercise for you?
Kate Harlow:Beautiful. I just I just think it's such loving. It
Kate Harlow:just it's it's just such a loving way to accept what is one
Kate Harlow:of my favorite books is and she lives in Ohi, Byron Katie,
Kate Harlow:loving what is, and it and I remember like studying her stuff
Kate Harlow:way back at the beginning of my journey, like 20 years ago, and
Kate Harlow:and to be able to to see the gift, and I think like so many
Kate Harlow:women that when they're we're at my immersion, they come to a
Kate Harlow:moment where they drop to their knees and they're like, "Oh my
Kate Harlow:God, that heartbreak, that like devastating loss, that tragedy,
Kate Harlow:like that led me to my awakening, that led me to
Kate Harlow:healing, that led me to this sisterhood, that led me to my
Kate Harlow:this expanse of life. Like how every single thing is like a
Kate Harlow:curriculum, a universal assignment for us to become who
Kate Harlow:we're becoming, but our smaller selves just want to look at the
Kate Harlow:the past and and be a victim of it and and you know be be angry
Kate Harlow:about it or hold on to resentments around it and how
Kate Harlow:then we're keeping ourselves in captivity. So everything you're
Kate Harlow:seeing is like you. When you actually are willing to love,
Kate Harlow:and it's not to negate the feelings, but to love up those
Kate Harlow:parts, and to hold those younger parts, but also like encourage
Kate Harlow:them, like, hey, it's going to be worth it later, and to to see
Kate Harlow:through that lens, what a gift to be able to actually see that
Kate Harlow:it's all a part of the becoming.
Marla Mattenson:Yeah,
Kate Harlow:every moment.
Marla Mattenson:That's right.
Kate Harlow:Yeah,
Marla Mattenson:that's exactly right. And I'll say, at the end
Marla Mattenson:of that exercise of going back and and being with your past
Marla Mattenson:self, you can be with your baby self. You can be with yourself
Marla Mattenson:in your mom's womb. You can be with your two-year-old self,
Marla Mattenson:10-year-old. You can be with yourself from last week. Okay,
Marla Mattenson:so all of these aspects, whatever is still not at peace,
Marla Mattenson:will arise as that other voice. and And the idea is, then you
Marla Mattenson:say, "Sweetheart, you won't remember that we had this
Marla Mattenson:conversation. You'll only remember that everything is
Marla Mattenson:going to be okay. Yeah, and and then when you do this exercise,
Marla Mattenson:I say you really need to do it at least five times. Okay, the
Marla Mattenson:first time is emotional, or maybe you feel a little
Marla Mattenson:disconnected. You do it again. You do it a second time. You go,
Marla Mattenson:okay. I really I can feel this. You dive in again. You do it a
Marla Mattenson:third time. You get another level of connection with your
Marla Mattenson:past self. By the fifth time, you have a very deep connection
Marla Mattenson:with your whole timeline of this life, and you can feel, oh,
Marla Mattenson:there's been ups and downs, and you know what? It is helpful to
Marla Mattenson:reflect back on those downs with love and care, and not go back
Marla Mattenson:to just relive the story and go back into blame and shame and
Marla Mattenson:wrong making and judgment and all that, and depression and
Marla Mattenson:sadness. To use it as for a purpose to be productive with
Marla Mattenson:it, and when you do this and you do it sufficiently, what happens
Marla Mattenson:is you start to realize pretty much exactly what you just said,
Marla Mattenson:which is, oh my gosh, there really is a gift in every
Marla Mattenson:challenge. There's a gift in every moment, so therefore every
Marla Mattenson:challenge that greets me now, I view as an opportunity rather
Marla Mattenson:than something destructive or horrible. Right? Even the things
Marla Mattenson:that are destructive and horrible, when we name and claim
Marla Mattenson:them as destructive and horrible, what happens is now
Marla Mattenson:we're creating this separation between us and this horrible
Marla Mattenson:thing, as opposed to saying, "Oh, there is a challenge
Marla Mattenson:present, and then I can go challenge accepted. I will go
Marla Mattenson:through this challenge with as much grace, ease, joy, and flow
Marla Mattenson:as possible. And when we greet that, more opportunities come to
Marla Mattenson:us, and we don't have to only learn through challenge. We can
Marla Mattenson:also learn through love and pleasure and uplift. And so
Marla Mattenson:everything starts to shift when you do this one exercise to
Marla Mattenson:clear your past and love your past, love every single moment
Marla Mattenson:of your past. Period. Then this wellspring of energy starts
Marla Mattenson:coming through you, and you become open to your true
Marla Mattenson:purpose, which is being a beacon of light on this earth, being
Marla Mattenson:the light that you already are. And because there's less dark
Marla Mattenson:spots of shame and blame and wrong making and sadness on you,
Marla Mattenson:you become more translucent because you're you don't have
Marla Mattenson:anything to hide. You can be transparent. You're not ashamed
Marla Mattenson:of your money situation. You're not ashamed of how you treated
Marla Mattenson:that person all those years ago. You have no shame anymore. You
Marla Mattenson:you might have some sadness. You might have some lingering grief,
Marla Mattenson:like I do sometimes, but it's not filled with shame. You're
Marla Mattenson:not making yourself wrong or anybody else wrong about it, and
Marla Mattenson:so you have more energy to pull from and draw from and be in
Marla Mattenson:this moment. And then you call opportunities to you just by how
Marla Mattenson:you be. That is how I've built my whole business. Is the
Marla Mattenson:energetics of business. It's not through advertisements and
Marla Mattenson:traditional marketing.
Kate Harlow:Yes, me too. Actually, every facet, and and
Kate Harlow:and I okay. So I have a question for you. What what is your
Kate Harlow:stance or your your your belief about? Because I feel like
Kate Harlow:there's a lot of people hold different beliefs about purpose
Kate Harlow:and about like actually because you you what's the statement
Kate Harlow:again? You get to have more than you need doing what you love. So
Kate Harlow:do you believe consistently? Do you do you and your website
Kate Harlow:almost so beautiful? I love I love that statement so much. I
Kate Harlow:love more than you need rather than we were talking about
Kate Harlow:earlier, like. 10 figures in your business every year, or
Kate Harlow:whatever. It's like these, like masculine, like concrete. It's
Kate Harlow:just like the. It's a feeling. It's feminine. It's like more
Kate Harlow:than you need. I feel like, oh, that sounds amazing. It's like
Kate Harlow:you have everything you need, and you have more. And um, that
Kate Harlow:like you said, that could look different for every person. I
Kate Harlow:know, you know, some people deeply long for a deeper, more
Kate Harlow:meaningful purpose that's aligned with who they truly are,
Kate Harlow:especially like the women I work with. Once they start to
Kate Harlow:realize, like, oh my god, I'm so different than who I thought I
Kate Harlow:was. Do you believe that everyone has a deeper purpose
Kate Harlow:that they that's actually connected to making money in the
Kate Harlow:world, doing what they let? I mean, I imagine you do based on
Kate Harlow:that statement. But tell me about your perspective around
Kate Harlow:that. Does everyone have a deeper purpose to do something
Kate Harlow:they love, where they can also make amazing money?
Marla Mattenson:So that's a great question. I don't believe
Marla Mattenson:that everyone's purpose is connected to earning money. I
Marla Mattenson:believe everyone has the same purpose on Earth, which is to
Marla Mattenson:shine as their uniqueness in the world. For some people, that
Marla Mattenson:also includes using their unique gifts to make a business out of
Marla Mattenson:it and earn money. For some people, it's to work for
Marla Mattenson:somebody else's business and help them shine. For some
Marla Mattenson:people, it's to align. I mean, this is how we all do it
Marla Mattenson:together. You know, I we specialize in my business. We
Marla Mattenson:specialize in remote teams, and how do you have that intimacy
Marla Mattenson:and innovation and feedback and enjoyment of your business when
Marla Mattenson:everybody is remote, right? And so, I do believe that those who
Marla Mattenson:know that they have a desire to earn more and receive more
Marla Mattenson:financially do have this birthright, and so that's it's a
Marla Mattenson:very individual knowing. And so, and how do you know if it's you?
Marla Mattenson:If you are listening to this, and the idea of consistently
Marla Mattenson:earning more than you need doing the work you love turns you on,
Marla Mattenson:feels like relief in your heart, inspires you, uplifts you. Then
Marla Mattenson:that's your birthright. It is for you. And if you're like, I'm
Marla Mattenson:good. I don't need that. That's not for me. Then you know that
Marla Mattenson:you don't. Then that's not for you. And so maybe you have a
Marla Mattenson:trust fund and somebody else pays for your life. Maybe you
Marla Mattenson:have a partner and they are doing what they love, or they
Marla Mattenson:earn more than they need, and so you don't have to you don't have
Marla Mattenson:to make a business out of what you love to do. I do believe
Marla Mattenson:that everybody has a unique gift that they are meant to share in
Marla Mattenson:the world, and for some people that's for a financial exchange,
Marla Mattenson:and for some people, it's for to volunteer, and you know, this is
Marla Mattenson:why I teach something called unreasonable rates, charging
Marla Mattenson:unreasonably high rates and unreasonably low or free to
Marla Mattenson:offer your services to people, and so it's it really is what
Marla Mattenson:you are in vibrational accord with. Being in accord with
Marla Mattenson:something means, you know, like like the chords on the piano,
Marla Mattenson:right? Like you are in harmony. You're not playing necessarily
Marla Mattenson:the same note. You're playing different notes, but they are in
Marla Mattenson:harmony. So you're in vibrational accord. First of
Marla Mattenson:all, you're always in vibrational accord because
Marla Mattenson:you're here on this earth. Now, what you're in vibrational
Marla Mattenson:accord with, consciously of what you're aware of and
Marla Mattenson:unconsciously, that's why this exercise of I am at complete
Marla Mattenson:peace with everything in my entire timeline from conception
Marla Mattenson:through this moment is essential because you will find the things
Marla Mattenson:you are in vibrational accord with that you wish were not
Marla Mattenson:there, and if you don't go back and address them and look at
Marla Mattenson:them, one minute, one minute it takes. Just you go back and you
Marla Mattenson:get faster and faster at like loving yourself through this
Marla Mattenson:experience. In the beginning, maybe it takes 510, minutes,
Marla Mattenson:right? And over time, you learn how to be with those past
Marla Mattenson:versions of yourself that arise during that claim. So, loving
Marla Mattenson:what is really loving what is implies you also love your
Marla Mattenson:entire timeline. You love your entire life because how can you
Marla Mattenson:be in this moment and love this moment completely when you're
Marla Mattenson:hating something that has happened before. It's not
Marla Mattenson:possible if there's hatred or shame or guilt or wrong making
Marla Mattenson:or judgment or depression or sadness about something from the
Marla Mattenson:past. It also exists in this moment because why? Time is a
Marla Mattenson:construct. Time is an idea, so everything is always happening
Marla Mattenson:in this moment as much as it happened in our minds in the
Marla Mattenson:past or in our minds in the future. What's only happening is
Marla Mattenson:in this now. So in this now, you are the sum total of everything
Marla Mattenson:that happened in the past, everything healed and unhealed,
Marla Mattenson:and that is what is creating what's possible. For you
Marla Mattenson:financially right now,
Kate Harlow:right, and also all the past stuff that we're stuck
Kate Harlow:on then gets projected onto the future. So then we're in we're
Kate Harlow:in like anxiety about the past and fear about the future, and
Kate Harlow:you know when we stay stuck in that place, missing all the
Kate Harlow:moments because we're so busy in anxiety about the past and fear
Kate Harlow:of the future,
Marla Mattenson:right, right. And what do they say? Anxiety is
Marla Mattenson:like a praying for what you don't want, or worry. Worry is
Marla Mattenson:it right? Worry is praying for something you don't want. To me,
Marla Mattenson:by the way, worry. Let's get into worry for a second. It's
Marla Mattenson:very tied to money. Okay, so worry again is a frequency and
Marla Mattenson:worry. We were taught, especially as women, that worry
Marla Mattenson:means love. Worry means we care. That we oh, I'm so worried about
Marla Mattenson:you. Are you okay? Right or oh, make sure you call me when you
Marla Mattenson:get home. I don't want to worry. Right? Those kind of like it's
Marla Mattenson:it in some cultures it's like highlighted that if you don't
Marla Mattenson:worry about your loved ones then you're cruel or you're mean or
Marla Mattenson:you're selfish or narcissistic or you know replace any of those
Marla Mattenson:words, and I remember having a conversation with my mom. Okay,
Marla Mattenson:my mom is in her 80s now, mid 80s, and probably about 10 years
Marla Mattenson:ago, I had this conversation with her. She said something
Marla Mattenson:about being worried about me, and I said, "Hey, mom, can we
Marla Mattenson:talk about worry? What, like, just kind of get into it for a
Marla Mattenson:sec? And she was like, "Okay, and and I said, "When you worry
Marla Mattenson:about me, do you think that that sends me like uplifting energy,
Marla Mattenson:or something else? And she goes, Oh no, I guess no, no, I
Marla Mattenson:wouldn't say it's uplifting, right? And I went, Yeah, what do
Marla Mattenson:you think it does send to me? And so we got in this
Marla Mattenson:conversation. It was really amazing, and she's like, "I
Marla Mattenson:guess it sends like concern, worry. Like, I hope you don't,
Marla Mattenson:you know, anything bad doesn't happen. Like, and I said, "Well,
Marla Mattenson:what are you wanting to send me? Like, what are you wanting for
Marla Mattenson:me? And she says, "Well, I want you to have a great time. I want
Marla Mattenson:you to enjoy. Like, it's usually around travel or something, and
Marla Mattenson:I said, "Oh, that's awesome! That's exactly what I want from
Marla Mattenson:you. That, and in fact, you don't have my permission to
Marla Mattenson:worry about me anymore. I'm not a child, even though I'm always
Marla Mattenson:your child. I am not. I don't need or want worry vibrations
Marla Mattenson:sent my way, because there's nothing to worry about. All is
Marla Mattenson:well, all is okay. Even when all is not well and all is not okay,
Marla Mattenson:all is still well and all is still okay. So you don't
Marla Mattenson:actually have my permission to worry about me anymore. So would
Marla Mattenson:you be willing to shift that? She said yes, and so we. She
Marla Mattenson:does not worry about me anymore, and it has changed our
Marla Mattenson:relationship dramatically. And then maybe like a few months
Marla Mattenson:ago, she said something about worrying about me, and I was
Marla Mattenson:like, "Oh, do you remember? Do you remember about worry and and
Marla Mattenson:like what's what's the deal with worry? She's like, "Oh, that's
Marla Mattenson:right. I'm not. I don't have your permission to worry about
Marla Mattenson:you. You know, she gets her little curmudgeon voice. You
Marla Mattenson:know, but she honors it. She honors it, and she knows that's
Marla Mattenson:my preference for how I want to live. And I also have said,
Marla Mattenson:look, you can do whatever you want. I just want you to know
Marla Mattenson:that none of your worry vibrations are going to reach
Marla Mattenson:me. They're not going to be welcomed in my field, so it's
Marla Mattenson:basically doing it for nothing. So if you want to send me
Marla Mattenson:something, be intentional and send some good vibes.
Kate Harlow:And and and what a gift for her! Like, I did. Do
Kate Harlow:you feel like that impacted her seeing everyone differently, and
Kate Harlow:like how what kind of energy she was putting out in the world, or
Kate Harlow:or do you feel like it just was with her relationship with you.
Marla Mattenson:You know, I I think it actually turned on her
Marla Mattenson:awareness to listen to what other people worry about more,
Marla Mattenson:and then so I think it expanded her awareness around worry in
Marla Mattenson:general, and then listening to other family members and friends
Marla Mattenson:and how they worry, and she's like, "God, everybody worries
Marla Mattenson:all the time.
Kate Harlow:Yes, there is so much
Marla Mattenson:worry.
Kate Harlow:Yeah,
Marla Mattenson:worry is contagious.
Kate Harlow:It's like everyone just like keeps feeding each
Kate Harlow:other's. And my my mom, when I was a kid, actually used to say,
Kate Harlow:"I was a worry wart when I was young, like 1112, I was always
Kate Harlow:afraid of earthquakes and afraid of like I had so much worry, and
Kate Harlow:my mom would always be like, no matter what I was worrying
Kate Harlow:about, she'd be like, why are you worrying about something
Kate Harlow:that hasn't happened? Like, why are you freaking out? But like
Kate Harlow:she she was so not a worrier, and I was like, whoa, okay, no,
Kate Harlow:go ahead and forget me.
Marla Mattenson:I have two things to say about that. First
Marla Mattenson:of all, worry is a fear vibration. So, like I said in
Marla Mattenson:the beginning, we're in a dense field of fear, and we're in a
Marla Mattenson:dense field of fear because our nervous systems are wired. It is
Marla Mattenson:part of our mechanics as humans. Every human has a nervous
Marla Mattenson:system, even if you don't have your arms and legs. And you
Marla Mattenson:know, if you are a human, you're alive. You have a nervous
Marla Mattenson:system. Okay, even if your brain is not fully developed or your
Marla Mattenson:nervous system is not fully developed, it's still there. So
Marla Mattenson:we have fight, flight, and freeze, and those three
Marla Mattenson:responses. We also have fawning, but that one's learned. Those
Marla Mattenson:responses are automatic. They happen, and they are a signal to
Marla Mattenson:our nervous system, and our nervous system then interprets
Marla Mattenson:that as safe or threat. And how threatening is it? Is it life
Marla Mattenson:threatening, or is it just you know because you looked at your
Marla Mattenson:bank account and you don't have enough to pay your staff, or you
Marla Mattenson:know oh I I looked out the window, and oh, it looked like
Marla Mattenson:there was a snake out there, but no, it's just a stick, you know.
Marla Mattenson:So, or I'm on a hiking trail or something, and I hear a rustling
Marla Mattenson:in the things. Like, for example, I was hiking behind
Marla Mattenson:this hotel with a boyfriend of mine in my late teens, and we we
Marla Mattenson:were drunk. We were hiking in these hills, and all of a
Marla Mattenson:sudden, I heard rattlesnakes. Okay, and I grabbed his hand,
Marla Mattenson:and we start running down the hill, and we start sliding, and
Marla Mattenson:then I realize it's wet. And when we got down to the bottom,
Marla Mattenson:I realized it was the sprinklers that had turned on in their
Marla Mattenson:hillside. There were no rattlesnakes; it was sprinklers.
Marla Mattenson:But you know we were drunk. I didn't know. You know. Anyway,
Marla Mattenson:this was a hilarious party. So fight or flight. I was
Marla Mattenson:activated. Okay, that the fear response has a purpose in us. So
Marla Mattenson:then the second thing I wanted to mention is when you were
Marla Mattenson:worrying as a child, you were also and still are very, very
Marla Mattenson:sensitive. So it's highly likely that you were in worry for the
Marla Mattenson:collective around you. You were tapped into the worry that was
Marla Mattenson:going on in your home that wasn't spoken about to you
Marla Mattenson:directly, or in your community that wasn't spoken about. But
Marla Mattenson:you were the vessel for receiving other people's fear
Marla Mattenson:because you are one of those very open, clear channels, and
Marla Mattenson:and when you are like that, as a child, you don't know what to do
Marla Mattenson:with all that, and if you don't have a human adult as a guide or
Marla Mattenson:a non-form botan, you know, someone who's not in form as a
Marla Mattenson:guide, you know, like that's why we have imaginary friends. We
Marla Mattenson:have, as children, we have access to the unseen world in a
Marla Mattenson:way that we don't as much as an adult. By the way, I teach how
Marla Mattenson:to access that again because it's way more fun to have your
Marla Mattenson:unseen world friends work on your behalf. By the way, that's
Marla Mattenson:how I do all my marketing is through my unseen world staff.
Kate Harlow:Wow! And
Marla Mattenson:just to come back, and we can come back to
Marla Mattenson:that. Which that's a that's a fun bunny thing. But as a child,
Marla Mattenson:I was also like this. I was feeling the collective in my
Marla Mattenson:environment, and so your worry might have been-it's possible
Marla Mattenson:you feeling the frequency and vibration of people around you,
Marla Mattenson:and it just came out in a way that they could understand,
Marla Mattenson:which is worry about something because you couldn't articulate
Marla Mattenson:what was actually going on inside of you. I'm just curious,
Marla Mattenson:how does that land for you?
Kate Harlow:Yeah, that makes sense. Perfect sense. Yeah,
Marla Mattenson:yeah, yeah,
Kate Harlow:yeah, yeah. Because the world, especially, I mean,
Kate Harlow:at least now there's a little more resources around being
Kate Harlow:highly sensitive beings, but but the world back then didn't know
Kate Harlow:anything about
Marla Mattenson:it, right, right, and dismissed it, made
Marla Mattenson:it.
Kate Harlow:Oh, I was for sure, and I grew up with amazing
Kate Harlow:parents, loving family, and yet I was I was shamed. I had two
Kate Harlow:brothers, so I was the only girl, and they didn't understand
Kate Harlow:me. So I was like the sensitive one, the emotional one. So it
Kate Harlow:was always a thing that I was sensitive and emotional, and
Kate Harlow:like, oh, she's just sensitive, she's just emotional, or you're
Kate Harlow:too sensitive, you're too emotional, which I imagine so
Kate Harlow:many women relate to.
Marla Mattenson:I completely relate to that, and that's it's
Marla Mattenson:the thing that I was also made wrong for. And now I believe
Marla Mattenson:sensitivity is a superpower. And in fact, those of us who really
Marla Mattenson:are on the path of growth and evolution, and here to shine as
Marla Mattenson:bright as we can on this earth and help as many people as we
Marla Mattenson:can, those of us who are doing that through business and
Marla Mattenson:earning consistently more than we need, doing what we love. To
Marla Mattenson:me, that's another birthright of ours: is the sensitivity, and to
Marla Mattenson:be able to not only feel our sensitivity to increase it. So
Marla Mattenson:that you have access to what we call your divine senses or your
Marla Mattenson:clair senses, clair audience, clairvoyance, claircognizances
Marla Mattenson:that not with your physical eyes, with your inner eyes, not
Marla Mattenson:with your physical ears, with your inner ear, not with your
Marla Mattenson:physical taste, but some people feel and taste things, you know,
Marla Mattenson:when you you you get a taste for something. So people can receive
Marla Mattenson:messages and guidance beyond what you can physically
Marla Mattenson:experience, and this is part of what we're doing here: is
Marla Mattenson:tapping into the energetics of our world. And let me tell you,
Marla Mattenson:the energetic pathways are so much easier and more enjoyable
Marla Mattenson:than the first you have to do this, and then you got to get
Marla Mattenson:that certification, and that degree, and then that degree,
Marla Mattenson:and that program, and that training. You don't need any of
Marla Mattenson:that. You need to understand the energetics of how to be in
Marla Mattenson:vibrational accord with what you actually want, not with the old
Marla Mattenson:things that you keep recreating, including love relationships.
Kate Harlow:Yes, yeah, and and toss
Marla Mattenson:that in there.
Kate Harlow:And your gifts. You know, it's funny you say love
Kate Harlow:relationships because as you were talking about that, I was I
Kate Harlow:was remembering. I said I've said this on the podcast a
Kate Harlow:couple of times talking about purpose that Jeff used to. I
Kate Harlow:remember you doing that relationship workshop with me
Kate Harlow:and Jeff, my partner that that now has Annalina's not only got
Kate Harlow:a Michelin star, but they are the 35th best restaurant in
Kate Harlow:North America. They just got voted on a huge list, a global
Kate Harlow:list, the 35th best restaurant in North America, they were
Kate Harlow:crushing it. You've been to Analina with me and Jeff and
Kate Harlow:Julian, but that day we did that relationship workshop, and you
Kate Harlow:you were kind of unpacking our stuff. I remember Jeff because
Kate Harlow:when I started my business, he used to be like, "You need to
Kate Harlow:work harder. You need. What are you doing? Like you're late.
Kate Harlow:You're lazy. You're slacking off. Like you're never going to
Kate Harlow:be successful. You're never gonna do like you need a
Kate Harlow:business plan. You need a business plan, and you were
Kate Harlow:like, okay. First of all, Kate's a projector, and her working for
Kate Harlow:like three hours is equivalent to you doing 14. So like you can
Kate Harlow:stop that story. And second of all, like um and but the
Kate Harlow:business plan. It was like he was so and I and it's I I look
Kate Harlow:in retrospect and I'm like, if I had a business plan, I would
Kate Harlow:have probably. I probably have a job now because none of this
Kate Harlow:would have worked out. Because literally nothing I do, not one
Kate Harlow:tiny facet of my business, did not come divinely and and was
Kate Harlow:guided. Like none of it came from me being like, oh, I should
Kate Harlow:do this thing. So if I had a plan, what? That's the old way.
Marla Mattenson:I'm so happy to hear you! You're like you're
Marla Mattenson:just singing my love language right now. And one of the things
Marla Mattenson:I had to unlearn, and still it's still embedded in me, is that
Marla Mattenson:hard work ethic.
Kate Harlow:Yes,
Marla Mattenson:and following the plan. So a business plan. So
Marla Mattenson:one of the so I was literally just writing about this
Marla Mattenson:yesterday. I have one major shame in my business life that
Marla Mattenson:is the biggest shame, and it's as I even think about it. I'm
Marla Mattenson:going to say it in one second. It's like, why is that even a
Marla Mattenson:shame? However, it totally is, and here's the shame: I made it
Marla Mattenson:all up. I made my entire business up from nothing. I had
Marla Mattenson:some guidance from some people of different types of structures
Marla Mattenson:for how to do things, but I made the whole thing up. I didn't go
Marla Mattenson:through a training to tell me how to create my business and
Marla Mattenson:have a business plan. I didn't go to get an MBA. I actually, at
Marla Mattenson:one point, I was already successful in my business, and I
Marla Mattenson:I went to UCLA. I graduated from UCLA. I got a degree in
Marla Mattenson:mathematics and neuroscience. It was mathematics with with the
Marla Mattenson:medical and life sciences. So I studied math, neuroscience,
Marla Mattenson:chemistry, physics, and biology at UCLA. And then I went on and
Marla Mattenson:got a master's in math, and I got a teaching credential. And I
Marla Mattenson:taught high school math for seven years in Los Angeles
Marla Mattenson:Unified. And then I've been on a school board for the last 11
Marla Mattenson:years, and I just resigned to focus fully on Beacons Global,
Marla Mattenson:which is our platform, and that lack of training. I remember I
Marla Mattenson:went back to UCLA to go to the Anderson School of Business, and
Marla Mattenson:I was going to apply to get a formal MBA because I thought
Marla Mattenson:that's what I needed to do. Even though I already had a
Marla Mattenson:successful business from doing it my way, doing it the way that
Marla Mattenson:just came to me, and through the guidance that I hired mentors
Marla Mattenson:and coaches and guides, and from my unseen. World guides, and I
Marla Mattenson:ended up talking with a friend of mine who went through the
Marla Mattenson:Anderson School of Business, and I told him what I'm doing. He
Marla Mattenson:shared what he's doing, and he was like, "You do not need to go
Marla Mattenson:to this school. You're already doing what they're trying to
Marla Mattenson:teach everybody. You're already dead
Kate Harlow:in their head. Like everyone's learning someone
Kate Harlow:else's theory. Someone else, and and and this is to me the old
Kate Harlow:paradigm. It's kind of like gotta get married, gotta have
Kate Harlow:kids. It's gotta look like this. This is the only option. It's
Kate Harlow:the same. You gotta go like PhDs, master's degrees. All
Kate Harlow:these things are so pedestaled, and yet it's somebody else's
Kate Harlow:theories that you're studying rather than what you and I have
Kate Harlow:done is we're in our own divine channel and we are channeling.
Kate Harlow:You didn't make it up. You're channeling the work that this
Kate Harlow:planet is needed. Like you know, all the greats from the
Kate Harlow:beginning of time. Everyone's channeled something. It's come
Kate Harlow:from somewhere, right? People don't make it up, and then we
Kate Harlow:glorify, or we've been trained to glorify studying other
Kate Harlow:people's series and you know reading this textbook and that
Kate Harlow:textbook, but that's actually I believe taking us away from our
Kate Harlow:divinity and from the magic that's meant to flow through us.
Marla Mattenson:I I I agree. I'm going to say yes, and for
Marla Mattenson:me,
Kate Harlow:yeah, yeah,
Marla Mattenson:I I do agree that we overvalue logic and
Marla Mattenson:reason and the materialistic view of the scientific world
Marla Mattenson:that science and scientific evidence, quote evidence and
Marla Mattenson:research, is the preferred method of validation in our
Marla Mattenson:world. I would say before something became an actual
Marla Mattenson:scientific research experiment, right? Before it got to say yes,
Marla Mattenson:this university will take it on. This will be the principal
Marla Mattenson:investigator. These are the people. This is the funding.
Marla Mattenson:Before it got there, what was it? It was an idea in somebody's
Marla Mattenson:mind, in somebody's field, saying, "I believe that this
Marla Mattenson:thing should be studied. Right, and one of the reasons why now
Marla Mattenson:there is a huge rise in menopause studies and studies of
Marla Mattenson:women and women's pleasure, women's health, is because we're
Marla Mattenson:demanding it now. And even though we were maybe demanding
Marla Mattenson:it in the past, not enough women of I'm 55, okay, so not enough
Marla Mattenson:women of my age were demanding it. Now it's like everybody
Marla Mattenson:needs to know about the different phases of life as a
Marla Mattenson:woman, you know. And I have some cool stuff to say about that
Marla Mattenson:too. We can do that in another podcast. But I really truly
Marla Mattenson:believe that both have value. So again, we come back to let both
Marla Mattenson:of these have equal value. So channeling has a place, and also
Marla Mattenson:looking back at the research, looking back at what was done
Marla Mattenson:with a grain of sand and a grain of salt together. Just like
Marla Mattenson:something might not be quite right. That's the grain of sand,
Marla Mattenson:and the grain of salt is like okay, let's take it for what it
Marla Mattenson:is. And there is value in researching it. I'm also a heavy
Marla Mattenson:researcher. I really enjoy. I mean, I studied mathematics. You
Marla Mattenson:know, like eight years of math, which is kind of crazy to even
Marla Mattenson:think about. But I studied knot theory, like the study of tying
Marla Mattenson:and untying knots mathematically, and how that
Marla Mattenson:works in our DNA for all the different processes we have-it's
Marla Mattenson:really fascinating. So I really do enjoy the research. I think
Marla Mattenson:there's a lot of value there, and when we overvalue that, then
Marla Mattenson:we undervalue, and that's what you're fighting back against.
Marla Mattenson:It's like all of the stuff that's channeling. What if all
Marla Mattenson:of it had equal value. What if it's just a choice? What if
Marla Mattenson:somebody who really loves research loves to do that, wants
Marla Mattenson:to continue to do that, and expands into other areas and
Marla Mattenson:talks with people who are more in the channeling and more in
Marla Mattenson:the ideation phase, and those two people now can talk and say,
Marla Mattenson:"Ooh, now this is a different type of research, right? And in
Marla Mattenson:fact, I know you've listened to the telepathy tapes, right?
Kate Harlow:I actually haven't, but I've I've heard I will, and
Kate Harlow:I've heard so many amazing things about them.
Marla Mattenson:Okay, okay, okay. Well, it's already in your
Marla Mattenson:field, so it is a must. I can tell you that when I listened to
Marla Mattenson:season one of the telepathy tapes, I cried through most of
Marla Mattenson:it because I felt so seen and so known and so loved. Because what
Marla Mattenson:this woman does is she's interviewing people who work
Marla Mattenson:with nonverbal people, people who are on the autism spectrum
Marla Mattenson:that are nonverbal, and also they've expanded it into animals
Marla Mattenson:and telepathy with animals, and the research that's been done.
Marla Mattenson:This one gentleman who was a total skeptic did research on
Marla Mattenson:dogs and their dog owners, and the dogs when the the dog owner
Marla Mattenson:would leave for the day. The dog would go about their day and do
Marla Mattenson:whatever at at home. They put up all these cameras, and then when
Marla Mattenson:the when the dog owner was within, I think it was two miles
Marla Mattenson:of the house, the dog would go to the front door and sit there.
Marla Mattenson:And then when the they would do all these different types of
Marla Mattenson:experiments, so it would be a different car. They'd come home
Marla Mattenson:in a cab. They'd come home in something else. They would come
Marla Mattenson:within the two-mile radius. The dog would go to the door. They
Marla Mattenson:would go back out. The dog would go back and do their own thing.
Marla Mattenson:And it was mind-blowing to this guy, and it completely changed
Marla Mattenson:his ideas of telepathy. So telepathy is our birthright as
Marla Mattenson:well. We can communicate without words, without seeing anybody,
Marla Mattenson:without using our eyes or our physical ears. And when you know
Marla Mattenson:that, and I had that growing up, I could read people's thoughts.
Marla Mattenson:I'm psychic. I see things. I see people's auras. I see colors. I
Marla Mattenson:see. I see dead people. That sounds crazy, like the sixth
Marla Mattenson:sense, but actually it's true. I typically can see people when
Marla Mattenson:they pass over, even if I'm not physically in the same location
Marla Mattenson:as them. I can always feel when people are gossiping about me or
Marla Mattenson:talking about me, whether it's positive, negative, or in
Marla Mattenson:between, and and so all of these abilities make me very
Marla Mattenson:sensitive, very very sensitive, and I've learned you know how to
Marla Mattenson:how to navigate in this. So I say turn on your sensitivity
Marla Mattenson:more and more and more, and practice turning on your
Marla Mattenson:telepathy. Turn that on because that is how you can receive
Marla Mattenson:more. Right now, you can literally, even if you're at
Marla Mattenson:work right now, you can ask yourself: If I look around, if I
Marla Mattenson:look around, who is happy and joyous? Who is sad? Who's
Marla Mattenson:depressed? Who is just getting through the day? You can sense
Marla Mattenson:people. You can see their facial expressions, their body
Marla Mattenson:language, even if they're facing the other direction. You can
Marla Mattenson:sense, and so start doing that. Increase your ability to sense
Marla Mattenson:people, and you're a master at that, Kate. You're one of those
Marla Mattenson:people. You always can sense people where they're at, and
Marla Mattenson:you. This is one of the things I've witnessed you do over the
Marla Mattenson:years. Is just naturally you go into harmony with someone, and
Marla Mattenson:then you help go to that tender spot in them, and and you
Marla Mattenson:provide this beautiful, loving, judgment-free place for them to
Marla Mattenson:just be with that and allow that to rise up and be witnessed, and
Marla Mattenson:it's just gorgeous. And so that is a sensitive superpower, and
Marla Mattenson:we want to develop those as women more and more. That's
Marla Mattenson:what's going to call in more money as well.
Kate Harlow:Yes. Okay. So we we need to wrap very soon, and but
Kate Harlow:this is going to be a multi part series. So so this will be the
Kate Harlow:end of the first one. But I just want to say, like, as I'm
Kate Harlow:hearing all of this, even the researching thing, and like and
Kate Harlow:knowing who you are and feeling who you are, and then feeling as
Kate Harlow:you were talking, I was like, oh, I'm a people researcher
Kate Harlow:because I've done 1000s and 1000s and 1000s of hours of
Kate Harlow:coaching and mentoring and teaching even before my own
Kate Harlow:business. That my saboteur archetypes were developed from
Kate Harlow:my own research, but I'm not a book researcher. I can't even
Kate Harlow:get through a personal development book. Like I even
Kate Harlow:recommend books that I've only read the first two chapters of.
Kate Harlow:So it it it because we're all unique. So that to me, that's
Kate Harlow:like what I'm receiving from this message is that when when
Kate Harlow:we and and I I I want to ask like for you to close with. I
Kate Harlow:just imagine all the women listening to this episode, that
Kate Harlow:want to, and we are going to go deeper next week. So there is
Kate Harlow:more to come. But all the women listening to this episode that
Kate Harlow:want that feeling of I have more than I need, I make more than I
Kate Harlow:need. What is it? I have more than I need. Make more
Marla Mattenson:consistently earn more than I need doing the
Marla Mattenson:work I love.
Kate Harlow:I consistently earn more than I need doing the work
Kate Harlow:I love. So, all the women listening that are not either
Kate Harlow:earning more than they need, or doing the work that they love,
Kate Harlow:or both, but they're feeling a deep soul resonance with that. I
Kate Harlow:imagine a lot of the women that listen that are in this
Kate Harlow:community have that desire and feel resonance with that. That
Kate Harlow:so the the first step you had shared is going through and the
Kate Harlow:acceptance practice, whatever you call it, you can of of
Kate Harlow:accepting all of the the things that have happened from zero to
Kate Harlow:now in their life. Where where do they go? So just as a final
Kate Harlow:closing of this iteration, because we're we're this series
Kate Harlow:is about like really guiding women to master money and to
Kate Harlow:master their relationship with money and to start to see, like,
Kate Harlow:and their how how they're bringing wealth into their lives
Kate Harlow:and all of that. So, so yeah, what would you say is the final
Kate Harlow:thing for them to focus on this week on claiming that?
Marla Mattenson:I love that. Okay, so I would actually
Marla Mattenson:recommend that everybody go to my website beaconsglobal.com.
Marla Mattenson:That's beacon with an S, beacons, because we are all
Marla Mattenson:beacons of light. beaconsglobal.com, and take our
Marla Mattenson:free quiz. It's on that homepage. You'll see three
Marla Mattenson:choices on the screen. You'll choose one of the choices.
Marla Mattenson:There's eight questions. I, as the human Marla, created the
Marla Mattenson:entire quiz. I did not use AI for any of it, and we had it
Marla Mattenson:programmed from our business and web developer, who is one of the
Marla Mattenson:co-founders of the company that Julian is a co-founder of. This
Marla Mattenson:guy's an incredible guy, and so it's a beautiful quiz, very very
Marla Mattenson:intentional, and it will give you one outcome. It's going to
Marla Mattenson:either be in money, love, or time, and those options-the way
Marla Mattenson:you answer the questions-just take five minutes to be
Marla Mattenson:intentional about taking the quiz. You're going to get two
Marla Mattenson:things, and they're both free. One, you're going to get a
Marla Mattenson:write-up of your answers of like, why do you have this as
Marla Mattenson:your number one first growth edge? Okay, all of it is going
Marla Mattenson:to be even if you get time or love. All of it is going to be
Marla Mattenson:moving towards consistently earning more than you need doing
Marla Mattenson:the work you love. It's really just what's your first growth
Marla Mattenson:edge, your first challenge or block on that journey. Okay,
Marla Mattenson:you're also going to get an audio activation. We call it,
Marla Mattenson:and it's an eyes open. It's meant to be you're stretching,
Marla Mattenson:you're doing chores, you're going for a walk. It's not a sit
Marla Mattenson:down, closed eyes meditation. It's an active be in your life
Marla Mattenson:and listen to this this audio activation, and that is the
Marla Mattenson:first step I really, really would recommend for everyone.
Marla Mattenson:And then you'll be in my field as well, and so and then we we
Marla Mattenson:send some free goodies into your library, and all of that is
Marla Mattenson:going to help you really turn on your sensitivity, your senses,
Marla Mattenson:honor the sensitivity you already have, and start to grow
Marla Mattenson:it. And then eventually, you'll see how this is going to lead
Marla Mattenson:more and more into money. So I'd say between now and our next
Marla Mattenson:episode, that's a great first step. And then, in addition to
Marla Mattenson:that, of course, practice the claim: I am at complete peace
Marla Mattenson:with my entire timeline from conception through this present
Marla Mattenson:moment. And then notice what arises that that's in that
Marla Mattenson:duality that says nah ah, and just capture as many of those
Marla Mattenson:things as you can, so maybe for three days, all you do is you
Marla Mattenson:say that claim and capture, capture, capture, and then go to
Marla Mattenson:one of those timelines, one of those experiences where you were
Marla Mattenson:not a complete piece, and be with yourself, like I talked
Marla Mattenson:about earlier in the episode, and love that past version of
Marla Mattenson:yourself and be with you, and remind yourself you won't
Marla Mattenson:remember what I said. You'll just remember everything is okay
Marla Mattenson:and everything is going to be okay.
Kate Harlow:Beautiful, I love it, and it feels like yeah. So
Kate Harlow:this episode's like phase one in healing and transforming your
Kate Harlow:relationship with really being the beacon in the world and
Kate Harlow:living from your gifts and being abundantly rewarded for it and
Kate Harlow:changing and healing your your relationship story with money
Kate Harlow:and with relationships and with everything it's going to be not
Kate Harlow:separate from like you said time money and love but thank you so
Kate Harlow:much love this is so beautiful I'm so excited for the next
Kate Harlow:conversation as we keep deepening into this super
Kate Harlow:important topic that has not been touched on the new truth.
Kate Harlow:And you are incredible, and I love just how concrete and clear
Kate Harlow:and brilliant and wise and honest you are about all of it.
Kate Harlow:Like relatable, you're just such a badass and so inspiring, and
Kate Harlow:I'm so happy to have you here.
Marla Mattenson:Thank you so much. Thank you so much. And
Marla Mattenson:I'll just say for everyone, truly, your unique gifts are
Marla Mattenson:needed in the world now more than ever. More than ever, it's
Marla Mattenson:it's urgent for us women to be shining our lights more and more
Marla Mattenson:and more, and be around other women who are confident in
Marla Mattenson:shining their light more and more and more. So may that be in
Marla Mattenson:your world, in your community, and may you use this episode of
Marla Mattenson:this podcast as a way to shine brighter.
Kate Harlow:Yes, I love that so much more than ever before. We
Kate Harlow:need we need you and share it with all the women in your life,
Kate Harlow:men in your life, anyone who needs to hear this episode, love
Kate Harlow:you so much, and we'll see you next week.
