How much of what feels impossible is being shaped by what you have chosen to believe?
Sandra explores the role belief can play in brain health, physical recovery, and the willingness to keep moving forward when others say no further improvement is possible. She reflects on how limiting thoughts can become self-imposed boundaries, influencing whether you continue seeking answers or begin accepting less than the life you want.
Drawing from her own experiences with pain, fear, overwhelm, and giving up when she did not know what to do next, Sandra shares how changing her beliefs helped her take action and create new possibilities in her body and life.
She also looks at the connection between thoughts, emotions, energy flow, and physical function, inviting you to consider where your own beliefs may be keeping you stuck.
What are you willing to believe is still possible for you?

About the Host:
Sandra Lee has spent almost 40 years helping people feel and function better by addressing what standard treatment often misses: the unresolved trauma and emotional patterns stored in the body. She is the creator of The Spectrum of Anger™ and The Witnessed Body™, which integrates Intuitive Sound Healing and Combat Brain Training to support brain injury recovery, brain health, and dementia. Her work is grounded in the belief that symptoms are messages, not malfunctions, and that when those messages are finally received and released, the body can do what it already knows how to do.

Welcome to Brain Health and Healing. I'm Sandra Lee. This show is for people living with head injuries and the families and supporters who love them. If you are ready to reclaim your life, identity, and dreams for the future, you are in the right place. I am Sandra Lee here For better brain briefs, how can you get your brain to work better? I talk here about people who have injuries to their brain, like accidents, falls, and strokes, or focus issues, mental clarity issues, or for whatever reason your brain's not working very well, and you want it to work better. I want to talk today
Sandra Lee:about something that came up during one of my interviews for the Brain Health and Healing Receiving Adversity's Gifts podcast that is starting to launch on august 5, and in this interview, we talked about something that happens so often for people when it comes to actual brain injuries, of having all of the treatment that the medical system is going to provide you. Say we've done everything we can, and you have to just get used to what's left. And hearing a doctor or a medical practitioner say something like that just has a real impact on how people feel and what's possible for them in the
Sandra Lee:future. But what I want to talk about now is what's even more limiting to that than that is what I think myself, what the person themselves thinks, the limiting beliefs, the limiting thoughts that I choose to believe. Whatever somebody else says, what I choose to believe has even bigger impact. In this case, I was speaking with someone who you're going to see on the Brain Health and Healing podcast. Someone, this person, heard this doctor saying, "This is what your future is going to look like, and he said, "No way, that's not happening for me. So he chose to believe that he was going to
Sandra Lee:accomplish what he set out to accomplish, which was regaining the ability that he had lost. That the doctor was telling him he wasn't going to be able to have. I'm going to save that for the show. More limiting belief is what I say to myself in my mind. So let's talk about that. Where in your life is your belief about yourself and what's possible for you holding you back? Where is that stopping you? It could be you are recovering from an injury, and you think, "Oh, this isn't possible for me. You just get used to where things are, or which what often happens is there's these symptoms you
Sandra Lee:have, these capabilities that you have lost, and you're not happy about it, but you just live with it because you don't believe that you can regain what you've lost. You don't believe that you can return to being able to speak normally. For example, you don't believe you're going to be able to walk normally. I've spoken with people who, following, for example, a stroke, who don't ever leave their house because they can't walk on their own. They can't get in the car and drive and go someplace. They're dependent on other people to be able to to leave the house, and so they stay in their
Sandra Lee:house all of the time, really wanting to go back out and live their life again. But they're stuck at home. Now I'm not saying that in the case of recovering from a brain injury like a stroke that is easy. You can just like poof and just do what I want to do. It takes work to recover. But if that was me and I was in that situation. I would be continuing to work on healing. What do I have to do to recover? One of my guests on the Brain Health and Healing Show that's going to be coming up soon is going to talk about that. Following is. Stroke. How he recovered and started living the life that
Sandra Lee:the doctors told him was gone. Not willing to accept that, choosing to believe that he could do it. So where are you possibly through your beliefs, holding yourself back from whatever it is that you want, whatever it is you need to heal, if it's something you need to heal, or hold yourself back from being able to do what you want to do.
Sandra Lee:I know I have certainly been guilty of this myself, limiting myself in my mind to what's possible. I don't know how to do this, and I give up. That has been my pattern. If I don't know how to do something, I quit because I don't believe. This is something I've been working in so intensely, working on my beliefs because of things that happened to me early in life. Not to put any blame on anybody. Pretty much normal things caused me to have beliefs that had me not believe I could do things. Panic, overwhelm, helplessness. I don't know how. I'm stuck. Not ever going to be able to do
Sandra Lee:this. I give up. Those beliefs stopped me for so long, and they were internal beliefs keeping me from doing things that I needed to do to get my business going. I needed to do these things, and I wasn't doing them because of my Limitations, self-imposed limitations. There are many, many, many people I know who've been in worse situations than I, starting off with these same kinds of beliefs, and they got themselves through it. Success. I was keeping myself stuck because of my beliefs. Not good enough. I don't know how to do this. This is never going to work for me, and giving up. That has
Sandra Lee:seriously been my thing for a long time, giving up, quitting. Recently, I learned part of why I do that because of things that I didn't learn that I needed to learn. So now I am taking action to address those self-imposed limitations to put in the learning that I didn't get, so that I can actually no longer be stopped by those beliefs. But looking at where are your beliefs about yourself holding you back from having your body work better, whether it's your brain we're talking about or something else. There is an injury to your ankle, injury to your leg, injury to your shoulder, injury
Sandra Lee:to your back. Do you believe? I talked about that a while ago. I had lower back issues, neck issues, but I very well could have just chosen to. It was like this is what it is. I don't do that. I continued to work to address those things, so that what used to keep me stuck in bed, because my back pain used to keep me stuck in bed, doesn't anymore, because I didn't let that stop me. I choose to get various sorts of treatment and do things to help my body improve. So much difference, and then when I worked on my beliefs, my limiting beliefs, that again took the pain level, made the pain level
Sandra Lee:so much better. What you believe, it's like you're telling the world, this is what I want more of. When I feel sorry for myself, for the pain or whatever, it's like it keeps me stuck in that place. When I change those thoughts, change. Change those beliefs, change those emotional states. Instead of looping them, then I do the things, I take the action, change the behavior, get unstuck, and sometimes miraculously, the discomfort goes away. The ability to function improves. So often, when I am working with people, I am working with. I do sound healing, and I see what's going on inside the
Sandra Lee:brain. I see what's going on inside the body. In my mind, I get a picture of what's going on in somebody's brain, not like diagnostics. It's not, but I just see what I see, and I see when the energy is stuck. I see when it's chaotic, and I help it to move. And sometimes just doing that and having the person work with their brain changes things. It changes that energy flow that has the potential to have the actual tissue, the actual function change, so that someone's ability to move improves. Someone's discomfort decreases. I see that happen all of the time when I'm working with people, with
Sandra Lee:in this case their brain. But I, you know, done the same thing: get the energy moving in somebody's ability to stand, somebody's ability to walk is easier. Somebody's ability to move their shoulder-they're able to move better because the energy flow improves, and whatever thought is stuck in that area, allow it to be unstuck. Movement improves. How does that happen? From one minute to the next, inability to move. Do a little bit, get the energy moving.
Sandra Lee:Get the beliefs stuck in there moving, and boom, a person's able to move better. Beliefs, beliefs impact that in a huge way, and it really can be black and white, like that, from one minute only being able to move a little bit to being able to move a much more normal range of motion. How can changing energy flow And thoughts impact that. It does because what you think and feel creates your structure, creates your function. I know for a long time, I believed, for something, if it's physical, that's the way it is. If it's physical, it's going to be there. It's going to be there today.
Sandra Lee:It's going to be there tomorrow. It's going to be there next year, and possibly it's going to be worse. I could think that with issues I've had with my back and with my neck, that it's just going to get worse. And if I weren't doing anything to address it, it might do that. But because I am doing things to address it, it actually improves instead of worsens. Physical structure can change. Physical structure can change. What does it take for that to happen? The most important thing that it takes is believing. Believing it's possible. Do you believe that what you want is possible. As
Sandra Lee:long as you don't believe something is possible, it's not. As long as you believe something is not possible, it's not. And if I do believe something is possible, who knows how long it will take? It's possible it never actually will happen. I think it was maybe it was last week. I was talking about how my lumbar curve is flat to reversed. Will. It ever have the correct curve for my lumbar spine? I don't know. I choose to believe that it's possible. I choose to believe that what I'm doing is going to get me there. Is it possible that it won't? Yes. It doesn't stop me from taking the action. It
Sandra Lee:doesn't stop me from choosing to believe that I can do it. It's like it's not going to upset me, make me angry, or feel like a failure if it doesn't happen. But I am also holding out that it will, and taking action and choosing to believe accordingly, working with the energy accordingly, do you know doing the practices, taking the actions that support it. So, what I do, how I think, how I feel, how I choose to believe, all have an impact. Whatever it is that's going on. You know, when it comes to my back, I think I might have talked about this earlier. I have chosen to believe that everything is
Sandra Lee:energy. Everything is energy, including the physical structure of my body. And I choose to believe for decades. I've chose to believe this that through working with energy, through energy healing, energy modalities, that it's possible to change physical structure. It's possible to change physical structure through what I think and what I feel, and when I work on healing modalities, energy healing modalities. On these things, it has the ability to change the physical structure. You might have heard me talk about through doing energy healing, neurolinguistic programming, which is one of
Sandra Lee:the things I do. The pain in my neck and head. When do The beginning of a session, I had pain in my neck and head, and actually I said, "Hey, I want evidence that this is going to work. I want the pain to go away. At the end of that session, because of all the release I did of like mental and emotional stuff, the pain went away. It gave me evidence. Doing energetic healing, neurolinguistic programming, pain changed. Physical symptoms changed. I went from, in theory, believing this is going to work, that this is possible, to having evidence, to having actual experience that it works. So,
Sandra Lee:for you, what do you choose to believe is possible for you?
Sandra Lee:When people have these major injuries that I talk about, in this case to their brains, but it could be anything. Choosing to believe, not being limited by what other people, like experts and physicians, say. Those are the people who actually get better? The people are willing to do whatever it takes, despite what other people say, and they just do it, and they get better. So your belief is the most important thing that you have. This is Sandra Lee with Better Brain Briefs. Look forward to talking with you next week.
