Episode Summary
In this powerful Podapalooza episode, Melissa speaks with Olga Alexeeva about the hidden cost of being the “strong woman” for too long. Olga shares her journey from immigrating to the U.S. in 1991, starting over from scratch, raising her son as a single mother, caring for her mother, and building two successful art galleries in Nashville — all while operating in survival mode and following rules that rewarded control, toughness, and emotional self-protection.
Through the challenges of COVID, business loss, and deep personal reflection, Olga came face to face with the emotional armor she had built around herself. She realized that while strength had helped her succeed, it had also disconnected her from intimacy, softness, and the deeper connection she longed for. That awakening became the foundation for her work helping women move from gray to glow — reclaiming desire, creativity, femininity, and inner alignment without sacrificing power.
Melissa and Olga explore the connection between the conscious and Unconscious Mind, burnout, emotional suppression, identity, self-worth, and the importance of consciously creating a life that feels alive. This episode is a passionate invitation for women to stop living on autopilot, stop postponing joy, and start building a life rooted in truth, vitality, and self-connection.
Key Takeaways
- Strength can become armor. What helps women survive and succeed can also block intimacy, softness, and connection.
- Success does not always equal fulfillment. A woman can build a business, raise a family, and still feel empty inside.
- Your subconscious signals matter. It is not only what you say — it is what you feel, believe, and embody that shapes your life and relationships.
- Burnout is deeper than exhaustion. It often reveals disconnection from self, purpose, creativity, and emotional truth.
- Healing starts within. Real transformation comes from changing internal patterns, beliefs, and self-perception — not just external circumstances.
- Women need creativity and softness to thrive. These are not weaknesses. They are essential parts of feminine vitality and wholeness.
- It is never too late to begin again. Olga’s story is a reminder that reinvention can happen at any stage of life.
- Do not wait for crisis to wake up. Start appreciating life now, while you still have the power to choose, change, and fully live.
About the Guest:
Olga Alexeeva grew up in Odessa and came to America in 1991, building two art galleries in Nashville by playing by men's rules: suppress emotion, control everything, never show weakness. She succeeded—and became starved for intimacy. Through her program From Gray to Glow, Olga helps women reclaim desire and softness without giving up power. Her message: women don't have to choose between power and love. Integration, not sacrifice. She leads by experience, not theory.

Melissa’s passion project is her non-profit, Girls Matter (www.girlsmatter.ca), breaking the poverty cycle 1 girl, 1 family, 1 village at a time. The mission is to keep girls in school and stop teenage marriages, because school isn’t free in over 50 countries around the world and when parents have to make the difficult choices of feeding their kids or paying for school, food wins. And when the girls hit their teen years, they will often be married off so that someone else becomes responsible to feed them. Keeping girls in school instead creates a generational ripple effect, because an educated girl is more than twice as likely to ensure her own children are educated. Educating girls also grows the GDP of countries, when they get into the workforce. This is how together, we can change the world. Guests on this podcast are invited to donate to this important cause.
