What To Do When You’re Stuck in a Thought Rut | UA39

When you discover how to think in a way that helps you feel better and show up more intentionally, you might also find yourself frustrated with the “sticky” thoughts you keep having.

Sticky thoughts are stories you keep telling yourself, even though you now understand that these stories don’t serve you. They’re your “go to” thoughts that tend to come whenever you think about a specific topic or encounter a specific, stressful situation. They’re thoughts like, “I’m stuck.” or “I’m not good enough.” or “I don’t belong.”

You feel so frustrated. You intellectually get that the thought’s not true and you understand its negative impact on how you feel and what you do, but you still can’t seem to stop thinking it. No matter what you do, this same, unwanted and unhelpful thought keeps presenting itself to you as the truth.

This episode is about what to do when you’re caught in a thought rut and you’re anxious to get out of it. I explain why this happens, how your brain is trying to serve you, and how to reduce or eliminate the negative impact of your sticky thoughts.

I’D LOVE TO GET TO KNOW YOU BETTER

ABOUT ME:

I’m a former international tax lawyer and senior partner with Ernst & Young. I left the law in 2014 to learn how to paint. After a couple years painting and selling my work, I became passionate about helping other people who feel stuck in their careers and lives and want to feel more personally fulfilled, invigorated and soul connected. I now spend my time painting, coaching, and creating live events at the George Russell Academy of Creative Expansion in beautiful Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada.
