Join host, Deborah Greenhut, Ph.D. as she shares her goal to help family caregivers survive and thrive. She's been a caregiver herself and wants to share mindsets and resources to prevent burnout.
The key is "sharegiving" - getting others involved to manage caregiving demands, instead of just doing it all yourself. Deborah aims to build a supportive community where caregivers can connect, share solutions, and support each other.
If you're a caregiver, check out new episodes of the podcast on its official launch date, Oct 2, 2024.

Welcome. My name is Deborah Greenhut, and you are listening to the Sharegiving Secrets Podcast. Here we'll explore ways to survive family caregiving. And I've been a caregiver many times in my life as an educator and mother. Well, you might say that caregiving is my life, but I've also had three lengthy assignments for other people in my family that taught me a lot about what it means to be a caregiver, but less about how to care for myself. My podcast is going to focus on the caregiver's point of view. A lot of people recommend ways that caregivers can do more, I'm looking at ways that caregivers can manage more so they can step back and get things done with the help of other people. As a life coach, I hear from caring people every day who feel too overwhelmed to continue to do things. When you listen, you will hear from caring people who have discovered solutions that can benefit them in the future.
Most of us become caregivers because we love someone, and the emotions can lure us into doing too much, because we don't stop to think about the best way to serve doing too much is the cause of burnout, and that's what we need to work on. So why a podcast on sharegiving? You won't find that word in the dictionary. It's my word for an upgrade to caregiving. People who are on the edge of burnout contact me every day to find out how to manage the demands of family caregiving. So far, their main resources have been their own efforts, and their supply is low, but they don't know how to find or use the resources that are out there. I want to get word out about mindsets and resources that can improve your quality of life, and I want to teach you how to get other people to help you by communicating with a larger audience, I believe we can pool our solutions for sharing the load, why it's important, and how to do it. And in a world of 8 billion people, you know, 1 billion disabled people need caregivers. We are rich in resourceful ideas, and we need to connect.
So if you are a caregiver, or think you will be a caregiver someday, or you've already been a caregiver, or even if you think you will need a caregiver someday, this is a podcast for you to get the most out of. Sharegiving Secrets. Please listen, comment and add your questions right here and join our private Facebook group, the ShareGiving community, where we can get to know each other. I want to hear from you, so let's grow solutions here with intentional acts of kindness so that no one has to care alone. Thank you for listening.
