The Freedom of Choice: What Choices Are You Making as a Leader?

Happy Juneteenth! As we take time to celebrate the Juneteenth Holiday this week, let’s also think about the idea of freedom, what it means to have freedom, and how it relates to business and leadership.

When we tie freedom to Business and leadership, it ultimately comes down to the freedom of choice. We are all free to make the choices that we want to make which means that as leaders we must understand that our people are also free to make the choices that they feel are the right choices for them.

It’s our job as leaders to create safe spaces for people to make choices that are the right choices for them as well as the business. In today’s episode, I will explain how you as a leader can set up guardrails & guidelines that give people the freedom to operate, grow, expand, and explore. Today’s show will also help you to allow those that are looking to you for leadership to show up as they are, where they are, and for you to acknowledge the genius that they exude!

𝑇𝑎𝑘𝑒𝑎𝑤𝑎𝑦𝑠 📝

🔑 We have the freedom to make choices, but we can’t escape the consequences of those choices.

🔑 Leadership is not about you it’s about getting things done through, with, for, and by other people.

🔑 Giving people the freedom to innovate means giving them the freedom to fail.

ℍ𝕠𝕞𝕖𝕨𝕠𝕣𝕜 📚

As we move through freedom week, examine how you are leading and ask yourself these two questions:

1.         Where are you creating freedom for your people to operate?

2.         Where are you giving them space to make their own choices and to learn from the consequences of the choices that they make?

Then also ask yourself, what choices are you making as a leader and how are your choices creating consequences for others that are looking to you?
