Howard, hello. It's Howard brown. It's the
shining brightly show. Oh, my God, thank you. Thank you. Thank
you for tuning in my great audience, 257,000 people. I love
it. We're reaching so many people, and we're changing lives
every day. I have a very special guest with me today. I do almost
every week, don't I? Alicia Cramer, welcome. How are you?
I'm great. Thank you, Howard.
I'm so glad you're here because I'm going to learn
from you, because there's things we're going to talk about that
we just I don't, you know, I need to get more educated. I'm
learning about energy healing, and I'm learning this, and I'm
going to learn about hypnotherapy today, here for
healing and for business and all that, and I'm just so excited
about that, but first I have to just tell me, how do you shine
brightly every day?
Well, I don't usually talk about this because
it's very much an internal process, but as someone who is a
student of energy work, I make a conscious intention to raise my
vibration and just radiate love. So whether that is with my
family, it is when I'm on sessions with my clients, it is
when I'm talking to colleagues, amazing individuals like you, I
have a practice of going within, being mindful, even in the midst
of conversation, and making sure that I am in my heart more than
in my head.
Oh, my God, radiate love. Oh, I love it. I
love it. It's just, it's a beautiful and it's personal and
and it's a discipline. I absolutely love it. Let me tell
you a little bit more about Alicia. She is impressive.
Alicia Kramer is an internationally renowned
hypnotherapist and business mindset coach known as the go to
expert for entrepreneurs with a profound understanding of the
subconscious mind and over a decade of experience, she
specialized specializes in helping business owners overcome
mental barriers, achieve personal growth and reach their
highest potential through customized hypnotherapy sessions
and holistic coaching, Alicia empowers her clients to unlock
their inner potential and drive both personal and professional
success. So this is all about the show. Lisa Alicia lifts up
people and and she does it through coaching and through
hypnotherapy, and we're going to learn a little more about her
right now, because I'd love for you to share part of your
background. Who are you?
So we talked a little bit about this. Well,
we'll try to keep the keep it to the short version. I actually
grew up on a dairy farm in central Wisconsin. And so there
were the positives and the not so positives. As dairy farmers,
my parents were stressed a lot. Worked really hard, and they
self medicated in unhealthy ways. So I developed some self
esteem challenges along the way. And it was, it was a challenging
childhood that being said that became part of my journey and
part of my story. Fast Forward in 2005 I was assaulted, and
when I came to I had post traumatic stress disorder. It
was one of those catalyzing experiences where you have a
couple of different options, and one of the options was not so
good, and so I chose the better option, and that was to go on a
very, very deep healing journey myself, mentally, emotionally
and spiritually, and that allowed me to heal a lot of that
deep hurt from the past. And in so doing, not only did I
transform, but I was able to then take this work into the
world and help my clients through their challenges as
I you know, I hear that that, you know, basically
well.
people's pain is their purpose now, and I love it. And in my
book and in my coaching as well, we talk about that walk in
darkness. And you just, you shouldn't do it alone. You did
it looks like but there's hopefully people that there were
there to support you, and you can't stay there too long. You
got to take the lessons and learn from them and and
basically take the light of others and be able to then, you
know, kind of move forward and, and you do that, and then this
is, this is the impressive part of what you're doing. So a
couple things I'd like to actually get into, actually, is
hypnotherapy. Give me the basics, so that the audience can
understand kind of what it is. It's not voodoo. This is real
and okay, and it helps people get unstuck. So I'd love to
start there.
yeah, so many misconceptions about hypnosis.
And yeah, there are those who focus on using hypnosis for a.
Entertainment, what a lot of people don't realize because
sometimes they think it's fabricated, and other times, you
know, they they diminish the potential because of that. Well,
what a lot of people don't realize is only a small
percentage of people are suggestible to that type of
silly, outlandish behavior, but in a clinical sense, hypnosis is
used to create deep, lasting transformation at the
subconscious level of the mind, and we know from all the
research that's been done on it that it has so many health
implications, in addition to changing our beliefs and
overcoming negative behaviors. One of the things that I'll just
share real briefly, when I was on my healing journey and I went
to a lot of different holistic practitioners, all different
types of energy workers, which is why I'm so passionate about
different modalities. One of the services that really helped me
was hypnosis. I went to a hypnotherapist, and I briefly
mentioned, had kind of a rocky childhood. I had insomnia since
I was a very, very young girl. After that session, not only was
I more calm and empowered on, you know, kind of coming onto
the out on the other side of the post traumatic stress disorder
from the assault, but for the first time ever, Howard, I was
able to sleep through the night peacefully, and I've been able
to ever since, and that was obviously quite a few years ago.
Now, the reason that I share this is because there's so much
that hypnosis can help with. It's not magic. It's scientific.
It doesn't I don't have super mind control powers or anything.
It's a very natural phenomenon, but it also needs, it needs to
be taken more seriously, because it really can help in so many
different areas of our life.
Yeah, I think, I think you mentioned it, but the
entertainment value of making someone cook like a chicken or
something like that really is a big disservice to it. And I tell
you, listen, people get knocked down. Life is not easy
sometimes, and many of the times people are struggling and in
life and in business and in health and in finance and
especially in relationships and any way that we can actually
lift them up, which I call bringing their light, you know,
relighting, rekindling their light. I think that hypnosis
could help, and I know for a fact that it helps a bunch of
people in the cancer world, okay, it helps caregivers
dealing with the stress, and it helps the cancer folks like me,
okay, that are in treatment, that your whole world gets
turned upside down. And so I'm new to this, and I'm open to it,
and I will tell you that I had misconceptions about it until
after meeting you. So now I'm kind of, you know, setting the
record straight. Tell me about a little bit about, like,
visualization and goal achievement for these
entrepreneurs that you help and and even setting boundaries, and
a little bit about self sabotage. And because this, the
whole package comes at you, and people have to be, you know,
it's really complex of what people are going through at
different times. It's
true, we're very complex. We're programmed from
childhood with other people's beliefs and other people's
fears, and then we have our own experiences, and that creates
all sorts of inner conflict. And what a lot of people don't
realize is we have the ability to reprogram our mind. Lot of
people don't realize how powerful the imagination
actually is. Now if you look at it in a very objective way, you
can see not nothing was invented without it being an idea in the
mind. First, everything is an idea in the mind. First. Now
most people are defaulting to fear, worry, and what are you
doing? Then, with the power of your mind, you're projecting
negative imagery negative visualization, so you're
reinforcing these negative patterns by consistently
defaulting to those types of thoughts and feelings. Now, when
we become more intentional, we can use the power of our mind to
visualize a healthier body. Look at the studies that they've done
on people who visualize playing the piano or playing basketball
and just shooting shooting hoops, right? I know you love
basketball and. And so we know that the mind is incredible,
because they've done these studies, all well documented,
where control groups are either physically doing the you know,
they're practicing whatever it is, the piano or or shooting the
hoops or whatever. Then they have some people who are
visualizing it, then you have some people who do both, and
then you have some people who don't do anything. And what is
so fascinating is when you're visualizing something, you're
literally creating that neurological wiring. And so then
when you go out and you actually do the thing, whatever it is,
making beautiful music, or, you know, shooting shooting hoops,
and actually, like you know, you you know, so you're visualizing
and you're hearing it, you're feeling it, and when you
actually then go to do it, you've embodied not only a new
level of belief in yourself, but your muscles and your
subconscious, reflexes and everything start to now align
with that behavior. That's the power of our mind, and we have
to, then, of course, be mindful of what are you programming each
and every day? Right? How much are you defaulting to that
worrying versus being intentional about your thoughts?
Thanks
for mentioning basketball, because I tell
everyone, find your happy place. Schedule it in, go there,
hiking, biking, artwork, cooking, travel, minds the
basketball court. And quite frankly, I've been playing
basketball since I'm six, I have developed muscle memory on how I
shoot because I can't feel the ball. I have, you know, chemo
induced peripheral neuropathy. I can't even feel it in my hands,
but I've done it so many times, in the head and in the emotion
of it, I know what to do. And actually, if I miss, I know why
I missed. Went right, went left, didn't go high enough. So I know
that's a very small, simplistic example, but I totally get it.
And I also want to mention that, you know, a lot of people are
dealing with past childhood traumas, and actually, what I
found is that that makes some of the best executives that I've
ever met, because they know how to actually get a mental
toughness and ability to pivot and ability to make decisions
and take risks to move forward. And so I love the fact that you
help unlock that. It's impressive to do that. And so I
read something in some of your work, in your books, about the
subconscious holding you back, and that's the blocker that you
remove, right?
It is so we all have had varying degrees of
trauma, even as a child, where a parent may say, What are you so
upset about? You're overreacting in the moment of that intense
emotion that that child is experienced that can register
just like a trauma. And so here we are adults, and we have all
these great intentions, the executive who wants to be a
great leader, the husband who wants to be a loving, attentive
partner, the parent who wants to be able to shut off the work day
and play with their children, and you just can't, and you
don't understand why, and that is because we have these deep
rooted programs at the subconscious level of the mind.
So when we can access that part of ourself and we can heal that
part of ourself, now the behavior changes where once we
couldn't relax, which is super common for executives and high
achievers and entrepreneurs, because many of us have been
wired to be driven for survival. What a lot of people don't
recognize is you don't have to give up the positive qualities.
We just want to take the edge off the negative side of it so
that it's not destructive, and then we channel that energy in a
much more productive way. So you still are in love with your
business, but you have the ability to take a day off, take
a weekend off, enjoy time with your family when you have that
vacation to Disney, because now you're not being subconsciously
triggered with feelings of, I need to be doing this, And I
need to escape that, and I'm not working and oh my goodness, I
don't feel comfortable in my own skin. We're able to resolve that
at the subconscious level. You set yourself free, and we all
have a lot of conditioning. So it'd be lovely if I could say.
We find that one thing you fix that you live happily ever
after. It really is. It's inner work. It's, you know, it's a
journey of inner growth.
I appreciate that set yourself free. That's again,
that's so important to get unstuck. Tell me about your
academy and your programs, because I'm sure people and the
audience and listeners and viewers are going to be very
curious. Tell me about that
the academy is something that I developed a
couple of years ago. It's a pretty substantial on demand
resource with guided hypnosis audios and releasing processes,
because we do need to take the negative, emotional charge off
of old, painful memories and negative habits In order to
effectively reprogram and release that trigger. There's a
lot of mindset training, and then I've got other experts,
amazing, talented business professionals who contribute
sales training and marketing training and how to do profit,
first in every other different area of business. And then, of
course, I'm there as well to work with individuals in a group
setting to identify what are those challenges that you're
bumping up against? And even though it is predominantly
geared towards business owners, it's not just about business.
It's about everything. It's about healing your
relationships. It's about your own spiritual growth. It is
healing your body. There's meditations that help to get
into a more healing state. So it's really a holistic process
for overcoming challenges, achieving goals. You know, we've
all got them, lot of stuff around money, mindset and the
more common challenges that business owners have, but really
a level of support that I don't think I've ever seen in any
other program that I've personally been a part of,
because there really is a sincere intention to help our
clients. Yeah,
I checked it out. I think one 800 call Alicia
today would be a good thing. We're going to give your
information out, but share with me a little bit highlight a
couple of your books.
Well, I have my very, very first book was called
hypnosis for success. It's been, I've done a reboot now it is
hypnosis for success, the definitive guide to unlocking
your mind for business mastery, and it's really just a short
read that provides practical techniques, little little,
little exercises you can do that's essentially a form of
Self Hypnosis. So aligning with your goals overcoming stress,
it's a don't read it once, type of book, and then I have
energetic alignment, which is my newer book, and that's where I
get a little bit more into the metaphysical side of things,
because we're talking about how you do need to identify those
limiting beliefs so that you can shift the energy and you can
align with your goals. And it's very much about not just
achieving success, but doing it in a way that is really aligned
with your true core values, not not one of the books where it's
like, make a million dollars and, you know, it's all about
glorifying the material. It's about all of you, and what real
success is feeling good about yourself and about your life and
creating a life that you don't regret.
Powerful. All right, so our show is such a
tease because there's so much more we got to get into. And
people are going to reach out to you to get take a deeper dive
and get to know you, and get to know your programs and your
coaching. Put on your sunglasses. We're going to do
something called the shining brightly spotlight right now.
All right, and we're going to share and shine. I'm going to
give you three things that to do, and then we're going to hand
back the show and we'll close it out with me. So the first thing
I want is to tell people how they can get in touch with you.
Well, that one first. Okay,
that's super easy. I'll send you one place.
You'll find everything. Alicia kramer.com, spell it, a, l, i,
c, I, A, C, R, A, M, E, r.com,
those are for the people that are just listening.
Second question is one, take home tip, immediate tip that
someone could probably implement right now. So you know, real,
real subject matter. Expert like you, who's really authentic and
lifts up people with someone someone can take away from the
show and go, go, try and help themselves.
It sounds cliche, but being more mindful about
what you're feeling, but a lot of people don't realize is we're
identifying we're we're bumping up against those triggers all
the time, those limiting beliefs all the time. We have a tendency
to we default to this. Okay, no fault, no fault, no guilt. But
we default to this the moment we feel that uncomfortable feeling.
We want to push it away. We want to talk ourself out of it. We
want to avoid it, we distract ourselves from it, or then you
have the over indulgence in it. None of those releases it in a
proper, healthy way, which means we're storing it. We're we're
keeping that pattern active within us at the subconscious
level of the mind, if you can acknowledge not feeling so great
right now, and you can say to yourself, I'm going to own this.
It is what it is I feel, the way that I feel, and I'm going to
allow myself to actually experience and process out this
emotion. What happens is we're able to take some of that
negative emotional charge off of the old pattern, off of the old
negative behavior, and each and every time we do that, instead
of repressing and pushing down and compartmentalizing and
building up all of that negativity, little by little,
we're setting ourselves free. That is a very simple exercise.
It seems overly simplistic, and it is so powerful that if you
could incorporate that into your life, it would make an
incredible difference.
What a great tip. Thank you. And the last one is
to share a little inspiration, a quote, a very short, impactful
story or something that we can share and shine brightly to the
world together.
One of the things that I just feel inspired to to
share, maybe because of what you're going through right now.
Howard, but I know that a lot of my friends and colleagues,
they're going through some some rough stuff. There are seasons
in life, and sometimes we get blindsided, and sometimes it
feels like we get kicked straight in the teeth, and it's
okay to process those emotions, and it's also okay to be
vulnerable and to lean in for love and support, we're still
strong. It doesn't mean we're not strong. It does not to the
contrary, I would be willing to say we're stronger one we're
willing to be vulnerable, knowing that this is just
temporary. This too shall pass, and in this moment, me being
vulnerable and allowing someone to give me love and support is
not just a gift for me, it's a gift for them.
That's wow, I have to tell you, it's I always say
that. It's not actually, you know what you get in life, it's
what you give in your time of need, and in my time of need,
1000s of raving fans are reaching out with prayers and
help and support and love. So I hear you, and it's so powerful.
Thank you for sharing that. Wow. This is incredible. What a great
show. You can reach me at shiny, brightly, calm, and obviously
you can learn more about the best selling book and some of my
collaborative books. Also hire me to speak virtually right now,
to come on to any of your podcasts or shows, and then also
you can learn about this show the feed. And I have 107
episodes and more coming, all great 30 minute resilient shows.
And of course, my advocacy in the cancer world, in the
entrepreneurship world at Babson College, and certainly the
interfaith world, which needs a lot of healing right now as
well. So I want to give thanks out to a few people that make me
look good. Front edge publishing, my book publisher.
Read the spirit magazine, which I blog monthly, amplify you,
which is my finishing house for this amazing podcast, and then
also diamond moments magazine, which I appear in every month in
multiple places. And then also speak inspire prosper, a great
speaking program from my friend Sharon love, who just became a
sponsor as well. So just remember, if you choose to shine
brightly just a little bit each day, for yourself, I'm going to
say that for yourself, you have the ability to then go lift up
others in your neighborhoods, in your communities, and we become
a force multiplier for good and positive change and make the
world a better place. Alicia, this was tremendous. You are
tremendous. And thank you for coming on the shining brightly
show.
Thank you. Howard,
