I am so glad you're here. This is the second episode in the find your perfect coaching niche series. I'll be releasing these episodes weekly over the next few weeks, so be sure to subscribe so you'll know when the new episodes drop, and you can always go back and listen to earlier episodes that are already live. So in the first episode, we talked about what is a niche, the definition of a niche, and then we spoke about what's the difference between a niche and an avatar. And finally, the benefits of niching down for coaches, how it makes signing clients and building your business so much easier. Today we're going to talk about how to choose your coaching coaching niche, and in future episodes, we'll talk about know that that niche that you've selected is going to be profitable, and how to overcome some of the common myths and misconceptions and worries that you might have about selecting a niche. All right, let's dive into how to choose a niche. So recently, I was helping my clients in the coaching Success Circle. That's the group program that I lead to help coaches launch and grow a thriving coaching business. I was helping them navigate this how to choose a niche process, and I showed them that the easiest way is to consider the intersection of three areas. The first is their history, like, what have they done? What have they accomplished? What have they overcome? The second area is their skills and superpowers and talents. What's easy for them? What do people already ask for their help with and then third their interests. There's no point in building a coaching business about something that bores you or that you don't like, right? So the intersection of those three things, think of this like a Venn diagram, three overlapping circles where each circle represents one of those three areas. One circle is skills, one is history, one is interests. When you look at where all those circles intersect, you're going to find the sweet spot where they all intersect. This is the area to look more closely at when choosing your niche. If it helps. I've got a graphic that I'll put in the blog post associated with this episode so you can get a way better understanding of the concept. So you're wondering, okay, candy, so how do I do this? How do I approach this? So here's what I suggest, save this episode and come back to it when you have a pen paper and time to focus. And I'm going to go through nine separate prompts or questions to help you narrow down your niche. So the first is, the first prompt is, create a list of your skills, everything that you can think of, things like, I'm really good at Excel. I'm great with budgets. I can manage money. I help people plan meals and track their food intake. I know how to put together a great fun exercise program. So create a nice, long list of all the skills that you have. Second, what do people come to you for help with? Do people help ask you for help with their resume? Or maybe you're the family tech guru. Are you that listening ear that always helps a friend through hard time? What do people come to you for help with? Third, what challenges have you overcome? Have you lost 20 pounds and kept it off? Do you have a strong blended family? Have you gone from being sedentary to being able to walk two miles every single day? What are the challenges that you've overcome? Four What have you accomplished? What are you proud of? Did you negotiate a raise because of your great performance at work? Have you learned how to row? Did you go back to school and get a degree, all while balancing a busy work life? What have you accomplished? What success have you experienced as number five? Did you get a great promotion? Did you get accepted to that interesting intern program? Did you find the love of your life? Were you able to figure out how to take a year off and travel the world? What successes have you experienced? Number six, what interests you cooking, quick, delicious, nutritious meals, maybe, maybe travel, writing, painting, economics, reading a specific type of non fiction book. What are your interests?

Number seven, what do you love to learn about? What do you enjoy learning about, maybe communication skills or intuition, or maybe how to pack for a world adventure with only carry on luggage. What do you love to learn about? Number eight, what are you known for? What would your friends and family say about you? What are you known for? And finally, number nine, what is easy for you but hard for others, this is going to give you an idea of your natural superpowers, your natural talents. So what's easy for you? You don't think it's any big deal, but maybe it's not so easy for other people, all right, so those are the nine prompts. Now, once you've written down your personal responses, you're going to have a much better idea of what niche might be the right one for you. The next step is to draw a Venn diagram on a big sheet of paper and label one circle interests, the second circle skills and the third one challenges overcome and put your highlight responses in each of these circles. It's going to give you a visual of where there are overlapping intersections. This work takes time granted, but it's important. It's an important investment in your future success as a coach, remember the work that you do here is going to help you sign clients and build a thriving business, and it's going to help you do it faster and easier. This is a worthwhile investment with a great return on investment of your time. It's so much easier for you to choose a niche where you have experience. So looking at your past and your skills when choosing a niche is the way to go. If you've got experience and in the lines with your talents and the things that people already come to you for help with, you know you're on the right path. I discourage coaches from choosing a niche that just revolves around their passions and interests when they don't have any history or experience there. Choose something where you've already got a level of expertise and a level of knowing and of knowledge, it is so much easier to help potential clients when you know what you're doing. For example, you can't be a business coach if you've never built or managed a business, right? So now you've collected all this data, you've done all this work. Now you're in a position to choose, and here's what I suggest, choose one. Remember, it's not a lifetime commitment. Make a choice and decide that you're going to commit to six months with this one niche, and after six months, you can reconsider, even if you want, you can go and put the date six months from today in your calendar, and the date and the event is going to say, reconsider niche. You know you've given yourself six good solid months, and stick with it for that amount of time. Don't second guess yourself. Don't spend days trying to decide when you sit in that land of confused and no decision, you're not moving forward, and that means you're not getting any closer to signing dream clients. I think the funniest guidance I've ever seen was from a marketer by the name of taki Moore. I was in one of his trainings, and he said this, listen, if you've got two perfectly good niches, but you can't decide do this foolproof method. Then he pulled a coin out of his pocket and said, Okay, heads, it's niche one. Tails, it's niche number two. I know it sounds funny, but if you've got two perfectly good niches, know that there is only the choice that you are making for now, and you can always change, but just don't change too soon. Give yourself time with that niche, the land of indecision, is actually a decision. Not making a choice. Is making a choice. It's making the choice to stay stuck and to not move forward. And you don't want that. I don't want that for you. So go ahead, flip that coin if you need to. All right, that is it for today. I talked you through nine prompts that I suggest clients use.
