Step 1 of the FLOW planning process is getting centered with Mia Moran

Over the next few weeks sprinkled between interviews and episodes, I‘m going to do an episode about each step of the FLOW Planning Process — center, vision, decide, schedule, and follow through. In this episode, I talk about why getting centered is the most critical first step to planning. I also share the seven ways I recommend to get centered, and what it looks like in practice.

Planning is just making choices in advance. Choices made from “centered” energy are different from choices made from fear, sadness, frustration. Part of the advantage of making choices in advance is that we have the time and space to get centered.

So step 1 of the FLOW planning process is getting centered.

This looks different when you are sitting down to plan a season, month, week or day, or a home project, product launch, website project, offerings, a week of diners, set of habits, a family trip.

7 ways to center and plan

Gratitude: Today page and what we do as a group on Friday in FLOW365

Breath: Pausing

1 deep breat or a 15-minute practice.

In FLOW365 our OM pratitioiners

Writing:

Brain dump

Journal for a bigger thing

Idea is to get out of your head because empty usually feels centering.

Meditation:

Movement:

Nourishment: Water + Food + Rest

Talking it out:

Process something out loud

Process a trauma or mindset blocks

That said, I always start with breath.

  1. Breath.

If I’m about to make some big life changes, I might have a mini breathing session.

If I’m planning reconfirming my plan for the day, one deep breath might do.

Outside

Walk around the block

Go to yoga

Process something out loud

Get a good night sleep

Move somewhere else
