Put your relationship first with my child? Won’t that threaten my authority? Won’t they walk all over me? When you parent by putting your relationship with your child first, you still have clear limits and expectations BUT you DON’T use your power over your child to shame her or force him to obey….OR ELSE!
When we parent putting the relationship first with our kids, they are much more likely to cooperate with us and it’s easier to find solutions to issues that come up because our kids feel safe coming to us because they know we won’t resort to shaming, blaming, criticizing, etc. We all want our kids to trust us and respect us and come to us and tell us what’s going on with them and this is the way to do it. Listen for easy ways to build a strong relationship with your child and learn how to avoid the pitfalls of relationship killers!
