It’s the 100th episode of Parenting our Future!  Help me celebrate by entering my draw to win prizes valued at over $5000!   Go to www.parentingourfuture.com When you enter, you will be sent a gift from me:  “Quick Fixes for Frustrated Families”

With my 100th episode coming up, I found myself reflecting on my motherhood journey and my journey as a parent coach. I’ve been a mom now, for almost 16 years.  I can’t believe it myself when I say that.  I have learned so much along the way…all of which, I didn’t know when I first became a mom.

In reflecting, I wanted to share with you some of the most important lessons I’ve learned along the way.  I’ve learned these lessons from my training as a coach, from the experts that have helped my husband and I in our parenting our child with extra needs, from the WONDERFUL guests I’ve had the honour of speaking with on this podcast, and from the courage and vulnerability of the clients I work with.

In this 100th episode and in the next, I’m sharing the top 10 most impactful lessons I’ve learned.

In part 2, I talk about:

1) Feeling like you’re failing is a shared experience and it’s ok to ask for help!  It’s ok to say this is hard!

2) The story you’re telling yourself is often the problem in the situation

3) When Connection is high, Resistance is low

4) Focus on teaching NOT on punishing

5) Embracing grace, going easy on yourself and forgiveness

As a review, In part 1, I talked about:

1) How Parenting isn’t an emergency (okay, unless there’s blood or broken bones! 😉

2) Your child behavior is NEVER PERSONAL – even if they say they hate you!

3) How Listening to your kids is the greatest path to connection – “talk less and listen more” is such a game changer

4) We need to be a safe place for our kids and that means showing them empathy and validating their feelings…even if you DON’T agree

5) Accepting your child for who they are, not who you wish they were
