When your kids aren’t sleeping and you aren’t sleeping, it’s a recipe for a lot of frustration. If your child exhibits signs like irritability, lack of attention, stalls at bedtime or gets up frequently, they might have a sleep disorder. Sometimes, kids are diagnosed with ADHD and it’s really their sleep that’s the problem.
My guest is Dr. Chris Winter who is a, neurologist, and double board certified in sleep medicine. With his three decades of experience, he’s helping us understand what a sleep disorder is and what we can do about it.
In this episode we talk about (a lot of stuff!):
What is a sleep disorder
How does sleep work
What we need to be learning and teaching our kids at an early age about sleep
How we, inadvertently, might be making the sleep problems with our kids worse
How Technology is impacting sleep
Why external pressures rob us of sleep
How to transition from co-sleeping to independent sleep
What do frequent wake ups mean and what to do about it
Teens and their needs
