Mac Attram:

Paul, thank you for having me on your show. I'm really looking, really looking for this. Looking forward to this conversation. Thank you for having me.

Paul Finck:

It is great to have you here and want to talk about some of your background, how you got started, talk a little bit about how you create this amazing life for your clients. Let's start with you. Like how did you get here? How long have you been coaching the speaker now?

Mac Attram:

Right, right. Excellent, great question. I've been a speaker and a coach for 17 years now just over 17 years. And how I got into that field was always by accident, really, what had happened was for several years before that I would run a little small computer company I started up in 1999. Just before the.com boom bust thing going on. And I quit my job I've worked in corporate for 10 years, realized that I wanted to do my own thing started this little computer company turned into a fully fledged internet, website designs, ecommerce websites and, and I hired people to also do computer installations. But cut long story short to i two business partners who are working with me who joined soon because they wanted to get involved. And one was going to take care of the sales and marketing side of things. So I thought, okay, I can start managing my business, someone's going to do this. And the other guy was a computer network and Installation experts. So he's gonna take care of operations. So I've got operations covered sales and marketing covered what I didn't know just about two years down the line, the sales and marketing guy says I don't want to do this anymore, and I'm just going to do something else. Suddenly, I've got to pick up that department and make that work. My hours I'm working is now an increase. Then a couple of months after that the operations manager says over he disappears, doesn't say anything, just doesn't say anything. And I've gone to his house I'm ringing the bell no answer. I'm phoning him no answer. I'm asking friends and associates have you seen seen as an ease that you've seen him but he's trying to avoid me. But what transpired was that now when I went through the numbers and creditors were chasing that I own $100,000 Wow, somebody had to pay that and I've got to pay my staff. So now I go and borrow money on credit cards on loans under $1,000 to to make sure we survive make sure that these creditors get off my back Now I'm in debt. Now. For me, it was the lowest time in my life. Why? Because at that time when all that was going on, now I'm working 19 hours a day, my wife was pregnant with our second child. And all these been going on for a few days, just bubbling under the surface and working all these hours, didn't see much of our first child when she was born, was a business because of working so hard. And if I had a break down one evening, my car just had to break down realize, saying to myself, I'm just I'm a failure. I'm a failure. How did I get here? And how do how do successful people do business? How To cut a long story short, that evening, when I had that breakdown, it became a blur. And I realized, I've got to study this, I've got to study how to how successful people become wealthy, how they become great after they build great businesses. And I was able to fix my business, and I sold that business. And people started asking me to help them in their business. So I'll, you know, I was doing that for free. Just doing some coaching, and consulting here. That's how I got involved in this in this field.

Paul Finck:

And I want to point out something and I want to ask you, where do you think you would be? If it wasn't for those early struggles? If you didn't have the the business partners that you trusted, that you delegated to that then kind of laughed and moved on? When you didn't have that struggle? Would you have the business you have now?

Mac Attram:

Great question, therefore, that did you know why? That's a great question. Because it's got me thinking that I've realized that everything happens for a reason. And I was meant to go through that struggle to understand how to really do business properly, I was going to go for that struggle to really establish so I can help other people. Because when, after all that, and when in regards to your question. When I sold the business, and I started investing in real estate, property, and all this kind of stuff, I wrote down my mission, my purpose, and it became very clear to me, and that was to, up to from then to now 17 years is to inspire, educate and empower people to live a life of joy, courage, passion, and purpose. And I can empathize with small business owners, entrepreneurs, because I've been there British struggle through the victories, demonstrable then victories. So in answer to your question, I wouldn't change anything, I don't think, although it was painful.

Paul Finck:

Oh my gosh, I'm right there with you. Yeah. And I went through a similar struggles and similar journey for about 1518 years before I got created the success which then led to more success, which then led to my company in coaching and training and that same journey and that concept, and people are still afraid to create, or to experience failure. And yet everyone I talked to, it's the failure that aren't them that train them that that Darpan the X to enable them to cut the path that they now are on.

Mac Attram:

Yeah, yeah, you're absolutely right. I didn't realize that at the time. And it was hurtful. It was painful. But you know, there's there's a bigger plan at hand.

Paul Finck:

Yeah, so for everyone listening, understand, you know, yes, everything has a purpose, everything has a reason. And the struggles that you may be going through, are setting you up for your great successes. And, and so let's talk about your great successes. So now you're you're doing this business, and it's been a while. Who your typical clientele and what kind of transformations do they experience?

Mac Attram:

Sure, great question. You know, we've had, in my mind space coaching company, we've had lots of different types of entrepreneurs, small businesses, and often they are consultants, coaches, advisors, mentors, trainers, speakers, they're these type of people. And these, these are people who are impacting the world in one way or another, they doing their best to make a difference. And but what's happened is either sales is not coming in as much as they want, which is affecting cash flow, which is like, okay, they live in their passion, but not making enough money. On the other side, we've got some other clients who have fixed that problem. We've helped them to fix that problem. But now they got more business than they know what to do with they got a turn business away. Don't say no, listen, you've got to restructure your business and turn it into a proper business. So the business doesn't. It's not just about you. It's about the number of people you can serve. by setting up a proper business, so we go through to redo tables through our process of establishing the right type of entity legally. And also to put the right teams in place, the right processes, the right systems that people can follow where it doesn't all rely on them. I hope that answers your question.

Paul Finck:

Yeah. And it opens up even more. So. So, so many people will struggle and some people call time management, some people call it they, they're, they're not focused, they're not motivated that and and then you talk about this scalability where they actually can create more in less time. Can you give us some tips? Like, how, how do we do that? How do we create more with less time? How do we create a scalability? When you talk about a real business? What do you mean by that?

Mac Attram:

Okay, so what we have a particular model that I take through our clients, let me run it through it with you right now. There are five, there are five levels in this in any business five levels, we call it this, we call this the business growth cycle. And the business growth cycle looks like this step at stage one. When you come into business, now, you want to make money, but nobody knows you. Nobody knows your customer. Nobody knows your products, your services, they've never heard of you. So you're invisible. that's stage one, you're invisible. So when you're invisible, what are you going to do? So what we suggest to people is go out there, offer some services. But strategically, you can do some for free, and strategically turn those into testimonials, and show the marketplace Hey, this is what I'm doing. And once you've gone through stage one where cashflow is zero, and you start working it through, you move to a place we call stage two, which is chaotic activities. Chaotic activities means Hey, you've got a client, you service them. One month, you've got money one month, you haven't, you haven't got a proper system in place. So it's, it's hit and miss. But his chaotic. Cash flow looks like up and down. But mostly down, you're worried about money. Step stage three, we call that emerging. The emerging player, the emerging business, and emerging player means that you've listened to people like Paul, you listen to people like Mac and it says, Hey, listen, you've got if you want to have a different type of business and come out of chaos, you've got to start thinking differently, start thinking as an entrepreneur. So what does that mean? Okay, all the things that are repeatable, start putting a system across that I are in a system, I have people who can follow that. It's not putting a team together. So now so so at chaotic activities, cash flow is mostly down. But as you start doing putting these systems and teams in place, you move to emerging player, step, that's three emerging player. Now, if you continue in that vein, stage number four, is what we call abundance. Now, you know how to get clients, you put a systems in place, you put a team in place that can follow the systems, your business doesn't necessarily need you to be there all the time. Right. So now you've got an abundance of clients that are being serviced, they are loving your company, they're not always asking for you, they are asking for your associates, because they just want the result. That's what they want. Not necessarily, they want the result. Now, if you continue, you move to a cash flow is good cash flow is mostly up now it's good. Then stage number five is what we call market dominance. And market dominance you are if you're like the king, or the queen of your niche, right, whatever your niche is, whether you're working with stay at home moms, or you are working with financial advisors, or real estate, you are now known as the go to company the go to so we call that market dominance and market dominance, you have all the pieces in your business set. Now you can scale from there, you can diversify, you can franchise you can you know, so we take people through these, through these these levels so that they have a business at the end of the day.

Paul Finck:

So it's understanding two components of that understanding where they are and helping them recognize the stage that they're at. Correct. Then talking about All right, what are the skill sets, whoa, tools strategies to get to that next level?

Mac Attram:

Yeah, and we provide the tools and the strategies. And we, above all, we also help them to start generating the right type of mindset, the entrepreneurial mindset because at every single stage, if you don't have the right mindset, there is no way you can move from that from that stage because some people have the mindset that hey, my business relies on me, nobody else can do it. But and that is a recipe for disaster. Now if you say I just want to live our best This dynamic is fine, then you don't need to grow that business. People will ask for you, you just do your sales and marketing. That's okay. But for those, there's, there's a lifestyle business, and then there's a business that you want to grow. Right? So if you want to grow, then there are strategies and techniques you can use to help you to grow to grow.

Paul Finck:

And just to clarify, we can have both right?

Mac Attram:

Oh, yeah, you can have both. But some people think, well, if I build some people, I've actually said to us, but I wouldn't I don't want to build a big business. And I said, Okay, fine. Watch. Let me ask you a question. Let's say something happens to you, and you can't work in your lifestyle business for the next three to six months, what's going to happen, then I don't have a business. That's exactly what I'm talking about. So now, what if you took the next year, two years to build your business in a way that it still allows you to do what you like to do and help people? But at the same time, something happens to you. There are associates, there are people and there are assistants who can continue while you're not there. how that sounds? Could you have a better lifestyle, then? You mean, I can do that? And money's coming in one on one the beach? Yes.

Paul Finck:

Right. Right. That's, that's so important that you've identified in your own journey, you've gone through that as well.

Mac Attram:

Absolutely, yes, yes. Yeah.

Paul Finck:

And I know I have where I recognized Oh, yeah, I was, I was having fun did a client here client there, it was all on me, you know, the company name was me, you know? And then it was that that awareness of the way, I want longevity, I want sustainability I want, I want scalability, I want to be able to create more help more, and, like, still be able to spend a week with my wife, like, Is this okay. And, and that's, and that's something that people definitely need that that wake up call and that assistance with? So they recognize that and that's what that's what you do? Yeah,

Mac Attram:

Absolutely. And you know, Paul, you mentioned earlier on that, how do we get them to grow so rapidly? What are those three key components? One is what helping them to, we're helping them with their attitude by attitude, you and I know I'm talking about their beliefs, their mindset, the way they thinking about the business. And the second thing is we help them to take the right actions, because every day you can do this and this, but is it the right actions? Is it these actions you're taking are going to get you the result you want at the end of the month, at the end of the year. And if it's not, let's cut out the clutter, let's cut out all the distractions that won't lead you there. And then the third area is accountability, where every client has a dashboard, where you're monitoring their numbers, and they have to report the numbers every day. Now, let me ask you a question. If you have to report your numbers every day, is it likely you're going to start doing the right things, as opposed to trying to run away from it and saying, oh, Manyana Manyana? There is tomorrow, tomorrow? Let's do it now. So those three components allows us so imagine a consultant or a coach or an advisor who, every day they just it's hit or miss hit and miss. But now you're saying, Mike, you're you say every day, I've got to do this, this and this. Yeah. And then we pull back every single day. Do you think they get that their sales are going to improve or decrease? The whole activity is going to improve? Right?

Paul Finck:

No question, what has paid attention to what is tracked actually gets done. And, and that's so powerful. And the key component here is how do you know when you're an entrepreneur, it's very, it's a lonely road, often, especially when you get going, you're a solopreneur. And then people say, Oh, and they'll hear it, they'll hear it out of this podcast, need to do the right things. And then they go How do I know what the right things are?

Mac Attram:

Right? You know, good question. You know, when I was struggling, and I was broke, and I was over $100,000 in personal debt and personal debt not in there. Clearly there was something I didn't know because the question I started asking myself how do these successful people become successful I built a great, great businesses and I realized I did not know guess what I started. I went to the bookstore started buying books on success books on an old those states audio audio tapes in those days, my audio tapes and audio CDs, and listening and so and then go into workshops and going to seminars, and learning and then suddenly my eyes open as to oh, I can improve this way or I'm doing it wrong this way or, and then I've got myself a coach. And that coach held me accountable to follow through on what I said I'm going to do. So nobody says you have to know everything. But guess what, whatever you are attempting to do in business right now, someone's already done it. Yeah.

Paul Finck:

Yeah. And so you're a product of the product is what I heard. And it's something that most people, I want them to hear that they need someone by their side there need someone who can see the 10,000 foot view of of their universe, when they can't see it, they're in it, they can't see the forest. Absolutely. And that component is so clear. And it's what I went through and go at getting a coach and learning the business or learning from someone else's viewpoint, and learning what people did to create success that I didn't know. Even more importantly, that I didn't recognize I knew. And sometimes, like, I know, I read it, and like you were saying, Oh, I got all the books, I read all the biographies. And yet, I still wasn't applying it in in the effective way. I needed someone to help me put it all together. Yeah, yeah,

Mac Attram:

You know, every, you know, Paul, great point there. The moment you say I want more, I want to be more I want to do more. That's when you are now stepping outside of your comfort zone. And in that comfort zone in that zone. You don't know if there's uncertainty, that what if in that uncertainty, somebody has certainty, right. And as your coach as your mentor as your advisor, if they can give you that certainty that do A, B and C and D, you will now get the result you you are looking for. That's what most people are looking for. Outside of that it's hit or miss it's guesswork.

Paul Finck:

How to get help them. And so the mindset we're talking about, we're talking about systems and processes. And in really understanding that cash flow component, you help them increase their sales. No, no question and the revenue in there, which is so important. Yeah. Any techniques or strategies? When people say, Well, I'm doing all I'm supposed to do, there's nothing else? What should we be doing to increase our sales?

Mac Attram:

Well, first of all, the two key things. three things, three key things I would say, if you want to increase your sales is, number one, have the right mindset in terms of sales and entrepreneurship. That In other words, you know, some people don't like sales, some people don't like the word selling. So I say, Okay, what if you just selling and sales is serving? What if you're just with that intention, you just want to serve them? You want their life or their business to be much better? Because of your help? Would you be willing to do that? Okay, then serve them, those, sell them serve them. So that's the mindset shift. The second thing is, make sure you are speaking to the right people, right. So decide what your niche is, what the niche be, I know you say in the USA, your niche, decide on what the niche is. And then what the problem, what is what's the main problem that Mitch has, that your product or service answers. So if you understand what their problem is, and you want to serve them to overcome their problem. And then thirdly, is this have a process, a sales process that you are going to go through to ensure by the time you finish your process? The answer is yes. And they want to transfer their money to you. So three core things, mindset, sales mindset, second thing, your niche, your marketing niche. And the third thing is have a sales process. If you do that, it becomes easier, and you'll make a lot more money. We teach all this in my bootcamp.

Paul Finck:

Huge, huge and the mindset, I'm always amazed people say, oh, I want more, I want to sell more. And yet I don't believe in sales. And so I want to shift some of that thought process because it is so important to to be serving everyone and understand that paradigm shift that you were talking about serve, serve, serve and when you do that is the epitome of a great sales. Right? Exactly. Serve them and give bring to the table everything that they need. The the understanding that whole process and what it takes internally as well as externally. And that's so cool. With with you mentioned boot camps is that one of the great ways or workshops is that one of the great ways to engage with you that you bring them through that.

Mac Attram:

I run several boot camps each year where people come into business boot camp, and I go through a lot of some of this Stop talking about I'll go deeper into all of these areas. And it's ideal for entrepreneurs who want to grow their business. Knowing that there's more, they can make more money. And, hey, by the way, I mean, people want to check it out. If you go to my website, www. Mack ashram.com. I have a free business quiz at Mack adtran.com. Free business quiz. And what I set this up intentionally, that when you do the quiz, it'll answer you may be asking what are the holes in my business? Why isn't this working or that working, and you will establish the biggest thing you need to focus on now. And it's a free quiz, no charge. And also, if you want to, you want to speak to me or speak to any one of my company reach out to us, we can share with you we run boot camps, we are group coaching, we have one on one coaching, we run which business millionaire business retreats as well. So depends on where that business owner is.

Paul Finck:

That is, so that is so amazing. And it's so great. And we've we have so much in common in in our background and what we do, and it's great to talk to you with all the people that we have. So we have people around the world, all entrepreneurs, which is our key focus to talking to people on, on how to build a great lifestyle and a great business, which is always my my mantra of have that perfect balance and making sure that it's one life that we live, it's not compartmentalized. We can have it all words of wisdom, what would you tell everyone, what some key things that you want to leave them with, for them to remember?

Mac Attram:

You know, after practicing, you mentioned 30 years, actually, I didn't account and it's now 40 years of martial arts practice. When I was struggling in my life, and in my business, there was one constant which was as constant as practicing martial arts whenever I could, on my own or with my master. And I there came a point I realized how comes. And by the way, I'm a sixth dan black belt in Taekwondo. I'm a former UK national champion. And I asked myself, Why am I succeeding in this arena, and failing in these arenas? And I realized, if I took what I had been learning from my masters into my business in life, what would it look like? And I realized there are five fundamentals of success. You know, this, this is what I realized that other people look at it differently. But these five fundamentals are not the not the number one if I can run through it quickly. Number one, be hungry, whatever it is, you're looking for, you got to be, as Les Brown said, You've got to be HUNGRY!!

Paul Finck:

Yes, hungry,

Mac Attram:

Straight from his bed, probably stomach, you got to be hungry for whatever it is.

Paul Finck:

Yes, hungry, hungry... You gotta want more.

Mac Attram:

Exactly. Yeah. And number two, now you're hungry for it be very clear. What's the objective? What's the goal? What's the vision? Where are you going? So clarity is number two. Number three is now you're clear focus every day on that goal, focus every day be hungry. So he's focused number four, because there's so many distractions, as you know, Paul, and number four is action. We know we've got to take action, take massive action on the things that you're clear about and be focused on that. And number five is discipline discipline, most people are ill disciplined but if you can have a coach and advisor and mentor and I know I keep talking about that, it's going to be it's going to speed things up because now someone's holding you accountable. You're gonna get results much faster than you could on your own.

Paul Finck:

Oh my gosh, I talked about work ethic that last one and and understanding you've got to put in the time and the effort otherwise all the rest of this kind of gets wasted. Exactly. And what a shame wasted for not just yourself but also for the world. Yeah, and going back to your comment about servitude and and serving it's not sales it's serving and and understand that that mantra and when you don't do all the things when you don't reach out to Mac atrium and and understand what's going on and how to move forward with more. You're you're doing the world a disservice. And you're hurting the world with the gifts that you're given to share. Absolutely. I agree. So I believe you said it I'll give you a another shot. Tell us how to reach out to you to how for all the people that want to listen to you hear you work with you. How should they reach out to you and find you?

Mac Attram:

Thank you, Paul simply go to www.macattram.com. That's macattram.com. I've got free resources there. You can you know there's no charge to you and one of them. A lot of our prospects and clients like is the free business quiz, which gives you a report as well, when you're done, it gives you a report saying, Hey, you gotta focus on this area of your business, otherwise, it's going to hurt you. And so and if you can help you just reach out, and we'll help you fix those areas.

Paul Finck:

Phenomenal, Mack, what a pleasure. And what, how great to have you here. And we've got to travel back and forth over over the ocean here and get to see you more often. We'd love that for our future engagements. Everyone, please, please, please pay attention, and some words of wisdom. Go back and listen to this spirit over and over again, with everybody around the world. We want to get these messages out. Mac, it's been an absolute pleasure. Thank you for being here.

Mac Attram:
