We just wrapped the interview with Stella Fosse and
realized, "Oh my God", we left out something really, really important
that you are going to want to know!
So first, I'm going to say, make sure that you tune in for the entire
fabulous episode 114 with Stella!
We're going to talk about seasoned romance, seasoned women, and
serious business of writing.
But right now, I want to pop back in for a moment here with Stella and ask
her to share a little bit about what other publishing opportunities there
are for women who want to write erotica.
So if you're out there and you're a woman over 50 and you're interested in writing
and publishing erotic writing about characters our age, there are a couple
places to look that will give you ideas about what's already out there, and one
of them is Ageless Erotica, which is a collection put together by Joan Price.
You might know Joan Price from her nonfiction books, where she explores
how people of a certain age can maximize their enjoyment of their sexuality.
Books like Naked at Our Age, which is one of my absolute favorites, but
Ageless Erotica is a collection of stories by people of a certain age
sharing their erotic imaginings.
Another great one is called Unmasked, Women Write About Sex and Intimacy
After 50, edited by Marcia Meyer.
That's a really interesting book that shares stories and also shares essays and
ideas about the importance of intimacy after 50 and the challenges to women in
terms of their sexuality later in life.
Of course, my book, Aphrodite's Pen, The Power of Writing Erotica After Midlife,
gives you all kinds of ideas for prompts and creating characters and generally
having a good time, including how to put together an erotic writing group
for women of a certain age and shares a bunch of stories written by those women.
Then way, way back in the day, the very first collection that I'm aware of is
called Ladies Own Erotica that was written by the Kensington Ladies Erotica Society.
It's very fun!
Now, In terms of publishing your own erotic stories, think about the annual
collection that Rachel Bustle Kramer puts together, where she collects
the best erotic stories of the year.
Rachel is very interested in putting forth stories that are erotic and sensual and
vivid that are written by women after 50.
So keep that opportunity in mind and keep on the lookout for other calls
for submissions because every once in a while one of these books comes along
that someone is putting together with erotic stories by women of a certain
age and or humans of a certain age.
So it's all out there for you if you want to start writing that kind of story.
Thank you very much, Stella, for sharing that.
And another time, I think if everybody's follows both of us, we're going to talk
about different opportunities to take what you write and get it out in other
modalities like screens, scripts, etc.
So stay tuned for that.
All right, before I let you go this time, you shared with me a fabulous quote.
Share it with everybody now.
Absolutely.
Maggie Kuhn was the founder of the Grey Panthers, and she famously said,
learning and sex until rigor mortis.
And on that note,
stay tuned, you will never, ever be able to guess what Stella and I are up to next.
