This show is about freedom. Freedom from your constant struggle with food and letting the size of your thighs determine your worth. Join me weekly for no whole fat, unfiltered girlfriend kind of conversations that will inspire, teach and empower you. As we tune into our own body's wisdom and tune out of the diet industry lives, we can live our most radiant, pleasurable and fulfilled lives. My name is Chanci dawn. I'm a non diet nutritionist embodiment and mindset coach. But most importantly, I'm a woman on a mission to grow a deeply connected and conscious relationship with food and my body. And I'm here inviting you to do the same. Let's go
Chanci Dawn:Hello, my darlin, how are you doing today? Today is beautiful outside. It's so it's been so rainy, which has been wonderful. Actually. I live on the west coast of Canada. And it is gray here often. And I love it so much that I actually painted the walls in my bedroom, a color called West Coast gray. So definitely not complaining about the gray weather. If you see the video, you can actually see it in my background because I am now working in my in my bedroom because I just love it in here. It's my most sacred favorite place. So I set up myself a little desk in here and I've been working in here for a couple of weeks. And it's just been glorious. So I'm surrounded by this West Coast gray always. And it just feels so cozy. But outside my bedroom, it's anything but Gray. The skies are blue, it's super sunny. All the spring flowers are coming up. I love it. And it's supposed to only be today we were going to go camping for this weekend. But the forecast looks terrible. So after I'm done recording this, I'm going to take my pop out for W A Okay, she's he is sitting here right with me. So obviously, I can't say the word. But we're going to go out and probably to the beach and just soak this gorgeous day out. So how are you doing? I hope today is beautiful for you. Whatever you're doing right now, when you're listening to this podcast, thank you, thank you for for listening to it along your walk or cleaning the kitchen or your drive, whatever it is. So happy to be joining you. Now, a couple of weeks ago, I had a stranger I don't know this woman I've never met her. And she emailed me. So I think she she connected somehow I don't even remember how I wasn't through the podcast. But I hope she's listening now. And if you are Hello, I won't say your name. But thank you for listening and bless you. So have you reached out. So she sent me this very, very heartfelt, very vulnerable email, about her own struggles in her life with food and her self confidence to do with her body and her experiences with yo yo dieting, how she will lose and then gain and lose and then gain and then gain some on top of it and how it's just been this never ending cycle and how she was just feeling so much shame and such a failure because of it. And I wrote her back and email, an email really from my heart. And I was just feeling really inspired today to read the email that I sent to her in response to you. Because if this is something that she is dealing with, then I am sure you can relate because if you're listening to this podcast, chances are you have a history of trying to intentionally shrink yourself. And I like to say this shrink yourself into an ideal that is definitely not set by your soul. So in this realm of it tastes like freedom. When you are here with me in this beautiful community that we are creating. Our focus is to step off the scale and back into our lives to take care of our bodies. exquisitely right we want to love her we want to take care of her because she is the vessel we get to experience this human life through and taking care of her means we tune in to her cues. What does she need to thrive? What does she need to feel pleasure? How much does she need? When does she need it and to really drop in to this relationship with her? It is so beautiful when we start really tuning into our bodies because your body holds so much wisdom. She has every little ounce of knowledge and wisdom that she wants
Chanci Dawn:to share with you so you can feel your best and live your most fullest life. So there's my little tangent, and body dating. Now, this is what I wrote back to her about her pain about the shame that she is living in. So I wrote, thank you so much for being vulnerable in writing this to me, I'm so glad you did. I really feel for you with the weight loss and gain journey that you've been struggling with. I know that it can feel frustrating, and like it's your fault, like you're doing something wrong and failing. But please really let it sink in right here. And now that this is not your fault. The yo yo effect that you are experiencing is sadly all too common. In fact, diets are set up to create the perfect storm of weight loss, weight gain, and usually some extra. Have you listened to my podcast episode on weight gain and embodied eating? If you haven't, please let me know. And I'll send you the link. Well, you guys are here. So hopefully you have Okay, back to the letter. In it, I explained the weight setpoint theory and why diets actually make us gain more weight in the end. In fact, they go against our very biology and our bodies will do everything they can to bring us back to the setpoint that continues to go up as we continue to die it. The sad thing is that even though this is just how our bodies work, diets are sold to us as a fix. And when they fail, we are blamed for not having enough willpower, and self control, etc. It's so important to understand this because if you're under a lot of stress, the stress of thinking that you're doing something wrong, or failing in some way, will only add to your body stress. And yes, stress can cause weight gain. But my assumption is that this is the isn't the only thing that's happening here. So please give yourself a big warm hug right now and take a deep breath. You are not alone in this. And although it's so hard, you can't find healing, your body can settle into its natural setpoint where you won't have ups and downs anymore. This really is where your body is healthiest. So when you say health is what you really want. Can you elaborate on that? What does that look and feel like to you? What would a healthy relationship with food look like to you? I'd love to continue this conversation if you'd like to, again, you are not alone. And thank you for reaching out. Love Chanci.
Chanci Dawn:So dear listener, I wanting to share this with you because I want to offer this to you as well. We are I believe in this beautiful community that we are building like minded women who want to link arms and move forward towards freedom together. But I'm here on this side of the computer, looking at myself on a screen speaking into this microphone and putting it out there for you hoping and praying that it will reach your ears that you will push play that you will listen. And if you are thank you, but let's move it beyond that. I want you to know that I am here for you. And the link will be in the show notes here or send me a voice message on the new SpeakPipe I think it's called again, in the show notes. You can access that link. Okay.
