Hello everybody welcome to another episode of
Saylor Cooper:Hope Without Sight with your host Saylor Cooper and
Tyler Evans:this is Tyler Evans.
Saylor Cooper:This is episode 38 Here at today's padaPalooza
Saylor Cooper:on April 26 2023. This time we have Elisa Boogaert. She is a
Saylor Cooper:life coach, life coach emphasising on confidence.
Saylor Cooper:Elisa, how're you doing today?
Elisa Boogaert:I'm great. Thanks for having me. Thanks
Elisa Boogaert:Tyler for having me.
Saylor Cooper:Yeah. Is this your first time padapalooza?
Elisa Boogaert:It is loving it. Energy.
Saylor Cooper:It's so much energy. Who would fold you?
Elisa Boogaert:I actually have no one. Michelle, since we were
Elisa Boogaert:teenagers. Oh, wow. Yeah, really? Yeah. No, we actually
Elisa Boogaert:even like when travelling together. And then we our lives
Elisa Boogaert:like when in completely different directions. And now
Elisa Boogaert:they're like reconnecting. Wonderful. Awesome. Yeah.
Saylor Cooper:So Elisa is the founder of inspiration by Elisa,
Saylor Cooper:a transformational speaker, speaker and a certified life and
Saylor Cooper:health coach who spent who specialises in confidence.
Saylor Cooper:Unless his passion is to help people confidently be themselves
Saylor Cooper:realise their own worth, and boost their self confidence to
Saylor Cooper:go after what they want in their life. And her mission is to
Saylor Cooper:empower people to make a positive change in their life.
Saylor Cooper:So they can be happy. I like that. That's outside is about
Saylor Cooper:Welcome to the show. So thank you. The show is about people
Saylor Cooper:that will come challenges in life and have it come out on
Saylor Cooper:top. So tell us about how you got started and what got you to
Saylor Cooper:where you are today.
Elisa Boogaert:Yeah, well, I guess my journey. Yes. It's been
Elisa Boogaert:quite a while it's just been talking about confidence. You
Elisa Boogaert:know, there's so many ups and downs. But the point where am I
Elisa Boogaert:my lowest point was when I lived abroad for 11 years, I lived in
Elisa Boogaert:Europe, and I lived in London, England. And when I moved there
Elisa Boogaert:I was I, my boyfriend and I had broken up just as I got there.
Elisa Boogaert:And we were travelling together. So I was backpacking for seven
Elisa Boogaert:months. So I when I got to London, I didn't have any money
Elisa Boogaert:left. I was heartbroken. I didn't have anywhere to live. I
Elisa Boogaert:didn't really know anybody. I didn't have a job. Oh, no, it
Elisa Boogaert:was all a bit. doom and gloom. And I didn't have much of
Elisa Boogaert:anything. And, you know, I had moved there because where I was
Elisa Boogaert:before I was unhappy. So I made this courageous step to, to move
Elisa Boogaert:to London. But yeah, it's to find myself in this in this
Elisa Boogaert:place. And I really started to feel the weight of depression.
Elisa Boogaert:And I was it was just so so low on myself. Like, I felt like I
Elisa Boogaert:had nothing.
Saylor Cooper:So it backfired.
Elisa Boogaert:At the beginning, it very much felt
Elisa Boogaert:that way. Yeah. And I was lucky enough that when I was
Elisa Boogaert:travelling in Nepal, I met a woman and she moved to London a
Elisa Boogaert:few months after me. And she reached out to me and said,
Elisa Boogaert:Let's let's go for a tea. And I met up with her. And she asked
Elisa Boogaert:me what I wanted out of my life, living in London and I was
Elisa Boogaert:stumped by the question. I had no idea what I wanted.
Elisa Boogaert:Everything. Like I just felt like nothing had fallen into
Elisa Boogaert:place. And I was I was completely stumped by that
Elisa Boogaert:question. And it was really through that she told me to go
Elisa Boogaert:home and maybe meditate on it kind of figure out what I
Elisa Boogaert:wanted. And from there is where I was really able to lift myself
Elisa Boogaert:out of the low state. I was in that question, because it gave
Elisa Boogaert:me freedom to think for myself. And it gave me freedom to start
Elisa Boogaert:really like evaluating every part of my life, you know, what
Elisa Boogaert:did I want? And who did I want to be? And how did I want to
Elisa Boogaert:show up in this world? Then I went on this two year journey to
Elisa Boogaert:kind of figure it out to rebuild my life and the ground app. You
Elisa Boogaert:know, I started going after what I wanted, I set goals for
Elisa Boogaert:myself. I use meditation to become more mindful. I took a
Elisa Boogaert:course to introduce me to affirmations. So I started
Elisa Boogaert:having a lot more positive self talk, and identifying what I
Elisa Boogaert:wanted out of my career. I read personal development books, you
Elisa Boogaert:know, I learned a lot of things the hard way. And like I didn't
Elisa Boogaert:get a coach or a mentor I was going to raise with the shame of
Elisa Boogaert:that getting help, you know, something that you didn't do in
Elisa Boogaert:my family. And so I didn't think that I could really reach out
Elisa Boogaert:for help. So I just kind of stumbled through it on my own
Elisa Boogaert:and it took a long time. It took a long time to love myself and
Elisa Boogaert:to speak my truth but just terrifying because, you know, I
Elisa Boogaert:didn't have any sort of proper communication tools. And I know
Elisa Boogaert:I definitely rubbed some people the wrong way, when I tried to
Elisa Boogaert:communicate my boundaries and what I wanted to be and do and
Elisa Boogaert:say, but I discovered my values were, and I knew, start living
Elisa Boogaert:them. So I'd be the person that I wanted to be. So I can be that
Elisa Boogaert:authentic me, not this, like, multitude of personas and roles
Elisa Boogaert:that I've been playing my whole life because I thought I had to,
Saylor Cooper:yeah, always stay true to yourself, because you
Saylor Cooper:are who you are, and don't pretend to be someone else. And
Saylor Cooper:don't. Don't mask yourself. And honestly, at times, and I won't
Saylor Cooper:go into the specifics, but recently, I've felt like, I was
Saylor Cooper:told to do that, that I'm me, I am who I am. And I'm gonna be
Saylor Cooper:myself. And that's all there is to it.
Elisa Boogaert:That's right. And I think that's amazing.
Elisa Boogaert:Because so many people don't have that confidence to do it,
Elisa Boogaert:you know, we feel like we have to act a certain way or do a
Elisa Boogaert:certain thing, or some of us and like, in my case, at this point,
Elisa Boogaert:in time of my life, I didn't even know who the authentic me
Elisa Boogaert:was yet. I hadn't, I've sort of buried her underneath all these
Elisa Boogaert:shoulds of life. And so I was able to, to find her and really
Elisa Boogaert:start living her and being okay with that, and not letting
Elisa Boogaert:anybody tell me any different or they could tell me different,
Elisa Boogaert:but it didn't matter.
Saylor Cooper:Who are you now, like you told me, You're telling
Saylor Cooper:me you know yourself more now than you did before. So yeah, I
Elisa Boogaert:feel a lot more like, secure in my own skin, I
Elisa Boogaert:kind of let go of a lot of societal norms, you know, that
Elisa Boogaert:kind of like shoulds of life and just kind of do what I want to
Elisa Boogaert:do. I mean, even going travelling, and living abroad
Elisa Boogaert:was kind of a little bit something against the grain, you
Elisa Boogaert:know, because I had left a life that had the house and the
Elisa Boogaert:mortgage and the car and the good job, right, it's just go
Elisa Boogaert:and get a good job and just kind of be miserable in it. And
Elisa Boogaert:that's just the way it should be. was able to kind of break
Elisa Boogaert:through all that and actually was working in corporations at
Elisa Boogaert:that time. And just in the last couple years, I've just found my
Elisa Boogaert:passion for coaching. And, and even though I've been quite
Elisa Boogaert:successful in my corporate career, I'm like, so ready to
Elisa Boogaert:leave that behind and just be a coach and help people
Saylor Cooper:Yeah, be a coach. And you know, I'm being a coach
Saylor Cooper:to Tyler's like my right hand person. We haven't helpful
Saylor Cooper:outside podcast, but we're gonna do some coaching sessions as
Saylor Cooper:well. It's gotta be in a fleet gifts that I want put this in
Saylor Cooper:the chat now. I want to invite you to a lift your spirit party,
Saylor Cooper:that's gonna be happening. May 5. Tyler can't if you want,
Saylor Cooper:please, I'll turn it over to you. You can tell him more about
Saylor Cooper:it, since you haven't been talking much. So go ahead, sir.
Saylor Cooper:Okay,
Tyler Evans:so basically, the lifter spirit party is going to
Tyler Evans:be a one hour session. It's complimentary, meaning it's
Tyler Evans:free. And we're going to just encourage people, basically,
Tyler Evans:let's say it's the end of the week, people are just having a
Tyler Evans:bad week. Maybe their boss gets on their nerves, whatever,
Tyler Evans:they're stressed. Things like that. It could be anything. And
Tyler Evans:so basically, what we're gonna do is we're gonna have sessions
Tyler Evans:of like meditation, things of that sort, gratefulness and just
Tyler Evans:encouragement in general. So that's basically what we're
Tyler Evans:gonna do in a nutshell.
Elisa Boogaert:Amazing.
Saylor Cooper:We're gonna do something more beyond that.
Saylor Cooper:Exactly. It's more in depth. It but first, come join the lift
Saylor Cooper:your spirit party, and if you like what you get, and I would
Saylor Cooper:love for you to come to our next event.
Tyler Evans:Oh, and in addition to that, there's, we're going to
Tyler Evans:be doing these general marketing calls, but it's not going to be
Tyler Evans:like sales or nothing. It's going to be general inquiry
Tyler Evans:calls. And so, too, we also want to see who would be interested
Tyler Evans:in the future, or close, you know, like, you know, like, near
Tyler Evans:the future, like, you know, within the coming days about
Tyler Evans:what we can do. But yeah, we'll just, we'll just ask general
Tyler Evans:questions about whatever.
Saylor Cooper:Exactly. So yeah, so. So you lived abroad for how
Saylor Cooper:long?
Elisa Boogaert:11 years.
Saylor Cooper:And so you and now you live in the US or
Saylor Cooper:Canada? I'm in Vancouver, Canada, then I will Love. I
Saylor Cooper:would love to come to Vancouver. One point. Great. I know I'll be
Saylor Cooper:able to very soon, hopefully. And how you feel now, like, back
Saylor Cooper:home, you, you're happy you came back home like,
Elisa Boogaert:Yeah I am. But it was interesting. When I first
Elisa Boogaert:moved back home, I kind of got wrapped back into my old life.
Elisa Boogaert:And some of the people that I was friends with like before I
Elisa Boogaert:had left and I found myself again to be a little bit unhappy
Elisa Boogaert:and miserable in a specific area of my life. And some of the
Elisa Boogaert:people I was hanging around was like, Oh, these aren't my people
Elisa Boogaert:anymore, you know, and I really had to, like, it was interesting
Elisa Boogaert:that I just kind of got wrapped back up into that life. And then
Elisa Boogaert:I had to actually take a step back and be like, oh, wait a
Elisa Boogaert:second, like, how did that happen? Like, I felt like I kind
Elisa Boogaert:of lost myself a little bit, and not that person that I had
Elisa Boogaert:really come to be when I lived abroad? Because I didn't have
Elisa Boogaert:that external influences of these people. So yeah, so I had
Elisa Boogaert:to make a lot of changes. And now I am yeah, I'm so much more
Elisa Boogaert:comfortable and happy and, and loving it. And so especially
Elisa Boogaert:happy with doing the coaching because it just gives me so much
Elisa Boogaert:energy and doing all these interviews today. And part of
Elisa Boogaert:the lose it Oh, yeah, I thought that I was going to be drained.
Elisa Boogaert:But actually, I just have so much energy, it's so great.
Saylor Cooper:It's so much energy. So a coaching to the
Saylor Cooper:coaching that you do has has as made the shift and it's changed
Saylor Cooper:your life. And so the coaching you do is you just help others
Saylor Cooper:have confidence, right?
Elisa Boogaert:Yeah, so through all that kind of, like couple of
Elisa Boogaert:years that I went through, and sort of like throughout the
Elisa Boogaert:years, I've developed this huge toolkit of ways that I was able
Elisa Boogaert:to increase my self confidence to go after, like, my goals and,
Elisa Boogaert:and what I wanted out of my life. And so I, the people have
Elisa Boogaert:said that to me, they're like, Oh, you seem really confident.
Elisa Boogaert:And I was like, I am like I don't know, I didn't really like
Elisa Boogaert:see it in myself. I just said just kind of was humble about
Elisa Boogaert:it. And I. So then I thought, Well, how am I like, what did I
Elisa Boogaert:do? What did I learn. So I created the confidence method,
Elisa Boogaert:which is like a 10 step system that kind of takes people
Elisa Boogaert:through that, like all these different ways that you can be
Elisa Boogaert:more security yourself, like, figure out what your values are,
Elisa Boogaert:and what's important to you. And to and also figure out ways you
Elisa Boogaert:can bake break through any challenges. So like, you know,
Elisa Boogaert:set self sabotage or perfectionism or even creating
Elisa Boogaert:boundaries with people that you love, you know, as you change
Elisa Boogaert:and adapt, you need to do that. And so I take people through
Elisa Boogaert:this whole, this whole kind of low method for them to you. And
Elisa Boogaert:by the end of it, they should be feeling a lot more have a lot
Elisa Boogaert:more self love and self confidence in themselves. So
Elisa Boogaert:they
Saylor Cooper:know you don't have to be perfect. I hear you.
Saylor Cooper:And some people tell us that and we don't need to be we all have
Saylor Cooper:flaws. And it's okay. Yes, I
Elisa Boogaert:that my session for that is called imperfection.
Elisa Boogaert:It's perfect. Yes. Perfectly Imperfect. Yes. And so
Tyler Evans:what you're saying here is being imperfect, or
Tyler Evans:being having weakness is actually a strength.
Elisa Boogaert:Yes. Also unique and beautiful heroines Oh, yeah.
Tyler Evans:The fact that we are resilient, meaning we can go
Tyler Evans:through all sorts of circumstances, and it doesn't
Tyler Evans:knock us down a hill, it only makes us stronger. You know?
Saylor Cooper:That's right. That's so because I glad you're
Saylor Cooper:teaching confidence, because we're teaching that as well, is
Saylor Cooper:that I just embarked on this journey a year ago for as an
Saylor Cooper:entrepreneur and a lot of this stuff is new, because I've never
Saylor Cooper:ran a business before but I'm learning all the ropes. Thanks
Saylor Cooper:to Michelle and a lot of people I'm gonna get, I'm doing
Saylor Cooper:podcasting. I'm doing speaking, it's gonna be a lot of fun like
Saylor Cooper:that. Now, I'm getting started, and I'm looking forward to so
Saylor Cooper:much more, it's gonna be just so awesome and great. But what are
Saylor Cooper:your future goals? From here on out?
Elisa Boogaert:Oh, good question. I'm gonna ask that one
Elisa Boogaert:very often. I just really want to have a profound impact on
Elisa Boogaert:people's lives. I want to Yeah, help them make these positive
Elisa Boogaert:shifts in their lives. So and do that through self confidence. So
Elisa Boogaert:I really just want to help as many people as I can. Over
Elisa Boogaert:originally, when I first started my business, I was like, Oh, I'm
Elisa Boogaert:building the Empire, and it was all gonna be about like
Elisa Boogaert:wellness. And I think we raised Do you want to do that still?
Elisa Boogaert:And is that not I'm not quite sure what that looks like. Yeah,
Elisa Boogaert:I just really want to help as many people as I can.
Saylor Cooper:Yeah, for sure. For sure.
Tyler Evans:We're the same way because not only are we doing
Tyler Evans:podcasts and radio station, we're also writing a book
Tyler Evans:together.
Saylor Cooper:Yes, we are. Awesome.
Tyler Evans:Is he and I we're hoping to work on that soon.
Tyler Evans:Very soon, actually. Together. So you're so great. A book.
Tyler Evans:That's right. For sailors writing his book, he said he, I
Tyler Evans:think he indicated that he won't. Yeah. Oh, how about that?
Tyler Evans:Yeah. But yeah, a lot of things are happening with a with a man
Tyler Evans:with us. And but yeah, we really appreciate your time that you've
Tyler Evans:had. And if you're interested in during the thing and things like
Tyler Evans:that, we can certainly put the email in the chat.
Saylor Cooper:Yeah, I purchased that already. The link to sign
Saylor Cooper:up for Lyft probably is in the chat. So yeah.
Elisa Boogaert:Thank you so much for that. That sounds like
Elisa Boogaert:a great thing to do on a Friday.
Saylor Cooper:Yes, it is. Yes. And so on. And it's 2pm Pacific
Saylor Cooper:your time, so. Okay, great. No, I ever never I don't believe I
Saylor Cooper:have any more questions for you. But I know we're limited on
Saylor Cooper:time. So I'll do our customers in you. Why advice would you
Saylor Cooper:give to someone who's struggling and doesn't know where to turn?
Elisa Boogaert:Oh, good when I'm when advice would I give to
Elisa Boogaert:someone who's struggling doesn't know where to turn? Yeah.
Elisa Boogaert:Ah, well, I mean, I would say yeah, ask, ask for help. Don't
Elisa Boogaert:do what I did and feel like it's shameful to ask for help. It's
Elisa Boogaert:okay to ask for help. We all need it. We all need our people
Elisa Boogaert:in our tribe. And And now we'll even say like Be selective with
Elisa Boogaert:it because you want to make sure to surround yourself with people
Elisa Boogaert:that lift you up. And so if you you know, try to get help with
Elisa Boogaert:somebody who maybe you don't jive with, you know, that maybe
Elisa Boogaert:it's not the right person and that's okay and
Saylor Cooper:wow, sad. Because a couple of weeks ago, I was
Saylor Cooper:going through some challenges and I surrounded myself with
Saylor Cooper:people in my tribe and they've helped me and I'm great now
Elisa Boogaert:yes, the lift you up and they are there to
Elisa Boogaert:support you and and yeah, you make them feel better. They make
Elisa Boogaert:you feel better. And I think that's just so important.
Saylor Cooper:yesterday as well, Alisa. Thanks so much for
Saylor Cooper:being on the house without sight and I hope you enjoy the rest of
Saylor Cooper:today at Agra palooza.
Elisa Boogaert:Thank you so much for having me. This has
Elisa Boogaert:been a lot of fun. You guys are so inspiring.
Saylor Cooper:Yeah. Oh, thanks. We'll give it up for Elisa
