Melissa’s passion project is her non-profit, Girls Matter (www.girlsmatter.ca), breaking the poverty cycle 1 girl, 1 family, 1 village at a time. The mission is to keep girls in school and stop teenage marriages, because school isn’t free in over 50 countries around the world and when parents have to make the difficult choices of feeding their kids or paying for school, food wins. And when the girls hit their teen years, they will often be married off so that someone else becomes responsible to feed them. Keeping girls in school instead creates a generational ripple effect, because an educated girl is more than twice as likely to ensure her on children are educated. Educating girls also grows the GDP of countries, when they get into the workforce. This is how together, we can change the world. Guests on this podcast are invited to donate to this important cause. Welcome back to another episode of health hacks, as I round out my series on 12 health hacks that you can easily implement into your life, that when you take them one step at a time, they can make a big difference in your life. Wellness isn't about being perfect, it's about literally starting small and staying consistent with the actions that you take, creating those daily habits that support your body, your mind, your spirit, leads you to the results that you're looking for. So choose one small, simple habit that I talked about and start today, some of the topics that we've talked about over the last 12 episodes are hydration and sleep, diet, movement, reducing toxins, stress, optimizing gut health, Supporting detox pathways, getting daily sunlight, your mindset and thoughts, building strong community, and never stop learning. So which one of those resonates with you the most? That's your starting point. Dig into that one. Create a habit, and then once that becomes a habit, then move on to the next one, and celebrate your progress, not perfection. Every step forward counts, and if you miss a day, that's okay, give yourself some grace. You're human, and know that the next day is a new day to step back into your new daily habits and then stack your habits. If you have one habit that's working really well for you, stack another habit onto it. Maybe it's about if you're looking at hydration, a great time to hydrate is after you've brushed your teeth in the morning. So you can stack a habit with brush your teeth, which you already do, I assume, to having a warm glass of water. Maybe there's some lemon in it to set up digestion, because you're going to be eating breakfast soon, I like to brush my teeth as soon as I wake up, to clear out all the bacteria from my mouth, and then afterwards I hydrate, and then I have my breakfast. So I stack those habits, and that allows you to build on an existing habit and add a new habit in. So how can you make that work for you? And as I said, don't try to do everything at once. It's too much. I've given you these 12 steps so that they can resonate with everybody, and every everybody can pick the right starting point for them and build on that. So thank you for being here and tuning in to all of these health tips. If you've missed some of them, I ran them from episode 532 through to episode I've lost track now episode 545 so those are the 12 tips. Check them all out. Pick the one that works for you, and just get started, because you can absolutely be empowered in your health journey, optimizing your health of body, mind and spirit. And if you need some help along the way, feel free to reach out. I have tons of resources that I'm happy to share. Melissa at your guided health journey.com.
