Welcome back to another episode of Health Hacks. I continue talking about quotes to live by, and today's quote is that when you face difficult times, know that challenges are not sent to destroy you. They are sent to strengthen you. And this ties into something else that I talk about often, and that is that life is happening for you so that you can learn something from it and move through it and grow. Because let's face it, if life was all rainbows and unicorns and roses, it would get boring. Where's the challenge in that? So when we experience challenges it is for us to be able to grow to build our resilience muscle and become the strongest version of ourself. And in that process, we need to be able to reframe the situation, and instead of going into victim Island and woe is me, and this is so awful to how is this happening for me? What am I supposed to learn here? There is a wonderful book called The obstacle is the way and it's okay. The obstacle is there, and is it just going to stop you and then you throw your arms up, give up and walk away, or do you build your strength and figure out a way over the obstacle, around the obstacle, etc, and as you do that, you are building your resilience, and that's what we as humans need to have. There's so many people that have turned adversity into triumph. One of my favorite stories is knowing that Michael Jordan got cut from his grade nine or grade 10 basketball team, and he wasn't good enough, and he went home and told his mom, and she said, Well, I guess you just have to practice more. And then the next school year, he literally set a goal for himself to shoot 100 consecutive baskets every day after school. And if he got to number 98 and he missed, he would start back at number one and look at the career trajectory, trajectory of Michael Jordan. And that was in the book. That story was in the book by Malcolm glad Well, the outliers, and it's a great story. Even in my own life, when I got let go from my 24 year career an hour to clear out my desk, no word of thanks. I could have looked at that as being, you know, this is the end of my world life as I know it. This is awful. What am I going to do? And gone down that path instead, I chose to look at it going, hmm, loved that career, and this is a kick in the pants for me to do something different. What can I do for the next half of my life, the rest of my career, what can I do that is different, and I had no idea what that was going to be, and I was open to being guided, and I was trusting in being guided, trusting in my own inner strength, that I could do this, that I had what it takes in order to be able to keep moving forward and figure out my path. And that is the beauty of this is that challenges shape us. They strengthen us. They are not meant to destroy us, and when we look at them differently, we can actually appreciate them for coming into our life to teach us something to so that we can grow and so that we can literally strengthen our resilience muscle and step into our highest version of ourself. So what challenge are you struggling with right now, that perhaps you can reframe for yourself? How can you shift your mindset around it and see that it is an opportunity for growth? Feel free to put a comment in the comment field below and share that with us and celebrate yourself for recognizing that you.
