Welcome back to another edition of health hack as I continue talking about hydration and the fact that our body mass is 60% water, and how much we need water in our lives to be in optimal health, particularly in the summertime, and I mentioned two episodes ago that we need 50% of our body weight in water every single day. But if we are out in the heat, then we're going to need even more because of the fact that we are sweating and losing a lot of our water through our sweat. We also want to be making sure that we are hydrating more if we are doing a detox of any kind, because in that case, we need to be flushing the toxins out of our body and supporting that process with additional hydration. So when I teach my detox classes I have my clients drink two thirds of their body weight in water. If you're not sure how to calculate that, go back to Episode 292. And I explain it there. The other thing that I want to mention is using water in the bath or a foot bath. So having an Epsom salt bath Epsom salt baths are largely made up of magnesium and the magnesium is absorbed very easily through the skin. And it's a very calming mineral on the body. It's nice to do this before bed. It's also needed for 300 chemical reactions in the body and 80% of North Americans are deficient due to our soil depleted system, our mineral depleted soil systems these days. So enjoying a calming, relaxing mineral salt bath with Epsom bath salts in evening is a great way to further support the body through water and get that magnesium in at the same time. If you don't have a bathtub that you can do that way if you can also do a foot bath so just get a bucket of some sort and fill it with water. Put the Epsom bath salts in and soak your feet. The magnesium also helps to draw out toxins. So it's a wonderful, wonderful way to both give your body what it needs and help your body detoxify at the same time. So if that's not something that you do for your own self care, you might want to consider adding it in just 20 minutes in the bath or in a full bath a couple times a week will add to your self care routine and have you sleeping much better if you do it at the end of the day. Enjoy
