Theresa Lambert:

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of dissecting success. My name is Theresa Lambert. I am here with the fabulous one and only wonderfully brilliant Blair, Kaplan Venables, my co host my biz best my best. We love hanging out we always have a lot of fun. And we plant a lot of seeds of success. We are a success gardeners. We our success gardeners,

Blair Kaplan Venables:

our success farmers really. Yeah,

Theresa Lambert:

it is we have success farmers farms of success. Can you farm success? Well, you can farm pineapples, so I guess you're gonna call them success. This is where this conversations go

Blair Kaplan Venables:

like organic, non GMO. Organic, non GMO success, like legit fucking success.

Theresa Lambert:

Oh my god. I love it. I love it. I lost my train of thought. So you go.

Blair Kaplan Venables:

Oh, so yeah, trees tonight. It's interesting. So we recorded another episode, we decided you know what, there was a lot of different directions in that one. So we're rerecording. And what we really jammed on that was like, very potent, that was very important was the concept of planting seeds. Because I know, way back when we started this podcast, we talked about how there's no such thing as overnight success. There's overnights like over many nights, like 10 years, five years a year, lots of nights of success. But how do you get there, right, you don't just wake up and you're successful, you have to take micro actions, you need to do things to move the needle. And that essentially, is planting seeds. What does that mean trace of planting seeds?

Theresa Lambert:

Well, I mean, to me, it literally means doing all sorts of different actions that drive the needle forward in your business. But every time you plant a seed would be every interaction, every conversation, every post, like literally, like every time you show up, publicly, I would say and also a little bit in the background, because I think we're planting seeds behind the scenes that people don't see but especially in the public eye, it's it's literally positioning yourself in some sort of a way with your business and putting yourself out there and every time you do it in whatever shape form or format, you're blending a seed and the second the seeds in the ground, you got to water it, you gotta shine the light on this and then the seeds starts to grow under the off right like and for a long time we can see even that doors anything growing, which is why it's so easy. I feel like to give up as an entrepreneur to feel disheartened because so many of our seeds in the ground at any given time. And at one point they start to sprout out of the ground, and then they keep growing. And sometimes there's pineapples and so we didn't delicious. And sometimes as we grow and build and plant all these seeds, we literally start having these beautiful gardens and then it's a mat off keeping the garden beautiful and continuing to plant more seeds because who doesn't want a beautiful big luscious vibrant garden full of pineapples, roses and and

Blair Kaplan Venables:

whatever else you grow. Yeah. So like this is a garden that's 24 hours a day, seven days a week, all year long. Like we're not talking about you having to post all the time and showing up all the time, but the seeds you plant start to grow once you plant them. So we just talked about a bunch of different examples. So social media, maybe you make a post, and you talk about something specific, whether it has to do with your personal life, maybe you're using, you know, you're entertaining part of the social media power and pillars. The first one is entertain, maybe you're entertaining, sharing about an experience, uses a couple of hashtags and a location, and you put it up, that's a seed planted. And then someone else might come along in three weeks, and they somehow look up a specific hashtag, and that hashtag is on your post. And they see it now like, wow, I really like what Theresa is posting, I'm going to follow her, and then they start to follow Teresa. And then they start to get into Teresa's world, and they get interested, okay, maybe it's something as simple as planting a seed is sending out a newsletter, once a month, maybe it's showing up to a networking event. Maybe it's a bigger seed, like you planted, planted a seed, as in wrote a book, you wrote a book, because you want to share your expertise. And that book is a seed that lives on. My book came out a few years ago, and people are still buying it. Not lots. But it's there, it's on Amazon. If you search my name on Google, you'll see that I published a book and I'm about to publish a second book. Seeds are basically nuggets of your knowledge that you're taking from your brain and putting it out in the world. nugget of knowledge nuggets of brain knowledge,

Theresa Lambert:

the knowledge nuggets, seeds, knowledge, nuggets, nuggets. Oh, I gotta love this. But But one thing that you just said, that I feel like I want to zoom in on is that once the seed stare it keeps growing. Once the seed is dead, keeps growing. And like if you think about plans to once a pond has grown right to receive and to add flowers or seasons where you know, you get the fruit, right from your tree, maybe you're growing an apple tree, maybe growing vine, apples, whichever way and then there was times that seed and not blonde needs to regenerate right there were seasons of this pond. So it might draw in, it might drop its leaves, it might take a breath and pause so that it can reimagine again. So the more seeds you have out there, the more things that you do in your business, the more brain knowledge nuggets. You draw.

Blair Kaplan Venables:

I love it.

Theresa Lambert:

Because you drop, the more the likelihood that you are reaching more and more people with your message, you're reaching more and more people with what you want to stand for. And the really cool thing about that is it one starts to build business momentum, which will help you start making more you know of the income that you want more of the impact that you want more, more of the clients that you want will come to you. But the other cool thing with that is too, is you are going to have so many seeds out there that even when you are not always active even when you are in a season off pause when you are in a season off rest, which you will need because we all do we're not Energizer bunnies. And even if we are I always say even the Energizer Bunny needs to recharge. So. Right. But during that season, all your seeds are still out there, which means they are still sprouting, they're still flowering, they're still bringing you to fruit, even when you're not in an active growing on an active harvest season. You know what I mean? Like we like I feel like when you are really skilled at planting the seeds, the wicked knowledge nuggets of gold.

Blair Kaplan Venables:

So basically, anytime you show up, in you share a little part of who you are, or your business or your life, you're planting a seed. So back to the social media example. When we first recorded this episode, we you know, I was saying essentially every time you post on your story, you show up on social media, you make a post, whatever you engage, maybe just even liking someone else's post. You're dropping a little seed. And Teresa looked into it. She was like wow, in the last seven days I planted 90 Something seeds. And so that got me thinking about what's our seed inventory.

Theresa Lambert:

You'll see the Atari

Blair Kaplan Venables:

C tutorial repository. repository, but what what what what Where are you planting seeds because they shouldn't just be in one place. And how many seeds are you planting? Right? So, you know, there's something as big as showing up on social media or even like engaging, that's, you know, planting seeds. But even being more specific and more intentional about the seeds you're planting, what are you planting? Where what are you sharing? Where? What are you directing people to do? What's your call to action, right. And I think it's better. I have this analogy in my head, like, for my wedding years ago, we, we gave out these little cards that celebrated our wedding that you can plant them and wild seeds would grow wild seeds, wild flowers would grow. And I picture like, the idea is like, what I'm saying and on social media is like you're holding a handful of seeds, and you're throwing them all over your yard, and you're gonna wait to see what wildflowers pop up. But then I have a section of my yard that's an actual garden. And to be very strategic about what I plant were like, the carrots are gonna go here and the tomatoes are gonna go there, and the zucchini is gonna go there. And my husband's gonna listen to this and laugh and be like, you don't garden, but I'm going to this year because I have a garden. But really, there's, you know, throwing wildflowers into the yard to see the beauty that sprouts and then there's just strategically placing seeds in specific spots. And everything has a purpose. Everything. And, you know, social media is a brilliant place to plant those seeds. But like what else are you doing? Because social media isn't everything? Social media isn't everything like tree. So where else are you planting seeds.

Theresa Lambert:

I love this. And I think this is so important because if we we put all of our seeds in one part of the garden, then one garden might look really pretty and the rest looks pretty dire. And that also means that when you plant all your seeds in one space, and they all go into quiet season and winter season at the same time, it ain't so good for business. So other places where I blind seeds is well networking is one of them. And networking definitely is helpful. That is an edge for me networking like I still like I don't know, I love networking. But then I also like the active like, like I'd like natural networking. I think more than I like official networking. Am I actually saying this out loud? Right? Yeah, the

Blair Kaplan Venables:

ye old schmooze and booze

Theresa Lambert:

um, but I really love connecting like generally connecting with people that are like minded. I think that that is really powerful. People publicity, and you inspire me a lot with that blend has helped me a lot with that. But like putting myself out there like, I am an executive contributor with brains magazine. So I'm writing articles for them. And I have a set amount of articles that I know I will get published this year. So publicity putting myself out there speaking this podcast, right, like podcasting is planting seeds. I'm about to start my own podcast. I know Blair, you have your own podcast as well with the resilient it's the I am resilient podcast, right? Am I getting that? Right?

Blair Kaplan Venables:

It's called Radical resilience from the global Resilience Project, but you're close and you're actually even a guest on it. And I can't wait till you launch your podcast. Actually, let's talk about that.

Theresa Lambert:

Yeah, oh, my god, podcast, my podcast, podcast podcast.

Blair Kaplan Venables:

But in general, that's a really brilliant way to plant seeds. Like we started this podcast, with just, you know, the notion of like, we're having great conversations and involved. It involves very little from us and involved us basically having a mic and hitting record. And then people started asking us, how do we work with you? Yeah, well, that was those were surprise fun seeds. That was like Jack in the beanstalk. You planted some beans in the beanstalk. When right to the sky. I was like, what this is cool. That was, that wasn't the intention. And it was a beautiful deviation. But you know, the podcast, and we're gonna get back to everything else you're doing. But podcasting is a brilliant way because you're sharing your expertise, you're giving a platform potentially to others, to listen to you to get inside your head, maybe for them to share their expertise. And it gives you credibility.

Theresa Lambert:

Yeah, I mean, I think podcasting is also such a, I mean, talking about combining, connecting with people becoming a platform for people being in service, right to other people who are guests coming on, and showing up for a cause to have conversations about something that you're passionate about. I mean, it's kind of the perfect storm, because you're really drawing the people in that are generally interested, right? Like, this is the dissecting success Podcast. Today, we're talking about seeds of success. There's like I love talking about success in any shape or form from what it means to how you can get more of it to how you enjoy your success to like, seeding, right, less success. But yeah, I mean, podcasting. It's such a it's such a brilliant way all So for people to feel a bit more of your personality, because they can actually hear you talk, right and you can also expand that to be a bigger seed, right, so many people record their podcasts, but they also have it as a YouTube show. So you can be on multiple different platforms, seating. Right, you'll message everywhere and that is such an incredible space, but also the connections made from podcasting as a podcaster being on other podcasts, but like think about the incredible people that we have met that have reached out out of the blue a lot of them like just reached out about being on the podcast, and have found to be people that will like like soul so like we I feel like I've met soul sisters

Blair Kaplan Venables:

like we're having we're having coffee dates. We're having a coffee date with a red like a divine connection tomorrow. Yeah. Okay, so maybe cool podcast and we can do a whole nother episode on podcast. I think we should probably Yeah. So okay, so you're planting your seeds with networking, social media, podcasting, you have your book? Yep. Public speaking.

Theresa Lambert:

Yep. Yeah, blind. A lot of seats.

Blair Kaplan Venables:

Yeah. You know what I did about by the time you're listening to this episode, if you're listening to it when it came out, I'm actually planting seeds right now. You might even be listening to this and I'm spreading seeds around you. Because I'm actually you know, in Mexico at a networking event in person. Oh my god, I haven't done this in so long. I fucking love in person. I love I used to call it schmooze and booze. I don't booze anymore. So now it's just like a schmoozing cruise, meet new people connect, how can I help them? How can they help me maybe they're just want to be my new best friend. Maybe you know, we get matching tattoos. Maybe we have deep and meaningful conversations and never meet again. But meeting people in person, like having those conversations is to me one of the most impactful way to plant seeds in person networking. And I know I am having a drought in my garden with that.

Theresa Lambert:

Yeah, I mean, in person coming back is so exciting. I agree with you. I love I love that. And I wanted to give everyone an example of also what seating really looks like, in like, like how this can like unfold and how powerful it is when you when you put yourself out there in any sort of shape or form. Okay, but here's something that's really cool. That's recently happening happening happened that's recently happened, but I was in Costa Rica in November, and one of my mastermind sisters broke down I was in a mastermind with who's amazing. She moved to the jungle, she moved to Costa Rica, and we were going to meet up on my birthday. And we did she took me on the most beautiful birthday date in Costa Rica. But a friend of us is a musician. And his birthday is on the same day than mine, November 24. And he was to have an album release party. And I was going to go to the album release party with her she invited me and anyways, he had to cancel it for like whatever reason it didn't happen. Never met him a few months later, okay, but see a seed was planted. Okay, there was a name, there was a passage as a musician. I was in a jungle. I was like to just so much stuff going on. months later, I post something on my social media. And he comments on the social media posts. And I see the name and I'm like, Oh, I think that's my cause. I think that's the artist that I was meant to go to the album release party, too. And so anyways, I respond and then I'm like, Oh, I didn't even realize he was on social media. Can't like but divine timing, let's just call it that. So and I ended up going onto a social media absolutely fell in love of his music. Okay, I was like, these tunes are amazing. And ended up reaching out last week, and said to after saying to Blair Blair, I think we should have him on the podcast. What do you think? Now I have not ever really spoken to him before that mud sheet. So I literally just reached out. And so in this case, Brooke planted a seed. Okay. The seeds kind of like went into like winter season. Okay. But then, because the seed was planted, things started to unfold. Right. And so now we're actually going to have Marcus come as a guest on a podcast and I'm super excited to see what he's going to have to say about what success means to him. But this is the power of planting a seed. Right so When we put ourselves out there with, with what we do with our gifts, whatever we do, like doesn't matter if you're an artist, if you're a coach, if you're a mentor of your social media expert, if you help people really find overcoming hard times through resilience, right? Like, I feel like Blair has really been like a leader in that for us, showing us how we can make it through difficult times, no matter what it is, other people start to take notice. And those people start to plant seeds for you too. And those seeds also start to flower. And I wanted to bring up this example, because I think it's so powerful to see how seeds will take on a life on its own as well.

Blair Kaplan Venables:

Yes, and you never really know what's going to happen. And I think that's like the beauty of it. It's the beauty of seed, seed, sprawling, knowledge, nugget farming, whatever it might be, and, you know, listening to this, maybe we've planted some seeds inside your head. You know, people do business with people they like know and trust. And if you show up as yourself, and you share your knowledge, those seeds are going to grow fast. People are going to support you, whether they're not the right client for you or not. If they like what you're doing, they're going to share your knowledge, they're going to share your content. They're going to refer business to you. They're going to for people to follow you. And Theresa just gave a perfect example. And you know, I think the lesson of this, this podcast before we wrap up is that you can do things with intention and with a plan. But really, every time you're showing up, you're planting a seed. Showing up means planting a seed. And so how are you going to show up? How are you being that seed farmer that seed gardener, that seed planter, and we invite you to plant some seeds, we invite you to share our seeds. If you liked this episode. Give it a share on social media tag, Theresa Lambert coaching Blair from Blair land, let us know what seeds you're planting. If you tag us, we'll share your post. And that's us sharing your content to our following and I'm climbing I'm about to hit 30,000 followers on Instagram. So let's help each other out in this garden of life this garden of success. Thank you for tuning in to another episode of dissecting success. Peace
