Welcome to Destin for success. I'm your
host, Jennifer Takagi, and if you can see this, if you're on
YouTube or someplace where you can see the video of this, you
can see this beautiful Marina behind me, blue skies, pretty
clouds. That is a picture taken here in Marbella, Spain. And I'm
actually recording this in Marbella. The problem is I can't
have the live show of the Mediterranean Sea behind me
while I'm recording, because it just doesn't work out. It
doesn't the lighting is not right. You can't see anything.
So here we are, but you get a little taste for it. If you're
listening to the podcast, you might go over my YouTube channel
and check this out, just so you can see the pretty picture of
the background. It's really lovely. And I'm in Marbella
because this is an adventure. And I was asked, this is now
October, almost November, and I was asked last spring if I would
come to Spain for a month. And I said yes, but it didn't always
used to be that way. I didn't always say yes, because that
adventurous side of me had been shut down over the years. I was
asked to come I said yes. 10 years ago, when I left my
government job, I decided I was going to say yes to as many
things as I possibly could, and this ended up being one of them.
I've had a magical, wonderful time. We wanted to hit 30
different restaurants while we were here, and at today's count,
we have 27 I will admit, I cheated a little bit, and I put
in two places where, like when we had nuts and when we had
French fries, and I put them down as restaurants, because
we're trying to get there, we have several more days, so I
might actually exceed 30, in which case it will be very easy
to mark off the ones that were just bars with only peanuts to R
so Well, you know more on that later. Last week's episode, Anna
with wandering growth. Oh gosh, please tell me I said that
right. Anyway, last week's episode, 321, this is 322 Can
you believe it? In her episode, she was talking about how she
sets up amazing, adventurous events for people, retreat type
things. She does them for people. She also teaches people
how to do their own really fun interview, fun talking to her.
But I thought, wow, how do I follow that? I follow it by
trying to get you to ignite your adventurous side, your
adventurous spirit. So I thought about a few things that come up
from time to time when people talk about adventure, and one of
the things is, I'm not very adventurous. I don't want to do
extreme things, like I don't want to jump out of an airplane.
I don't want to go cliff diving. I don't want to go bungee
jumping. I don't want to scuba dive. I have a sister that scuba
dives. She and her husband go, oh, play scuba diving. That's
great for them, but I don't want to do it. That's not on my list.
Adventure does not have to be extreme. It doesn't have to take
a lot of time, and it doesn't have to cost a lot of money.
Those are, like, the three big pushbacks that I get from
people. Hey, do you want to come to Spain and visit us while
we're here? Oh, I can't do that. No, the nose have a lot of
reasons behind them. One of my girlfriends happened to be in
Barcelona for a business trip, so she caught a plane, came on
down, and has been hanging out for the last week. We've had a
great time, lots of adventure. So the first thing is, it
doesn't have to be extreme. That's like point one on this
conversation. The adventure does not have to be extreme. It
doesn't have to be getting on a plane flying across the Pacific
Ocean. No, that's the Atlantic. We flew across the Atlantic. Let
me get my direction straight. We flew across the Atlantic. It
doesn't have to be that way. It can be little. So if you want to
get out of your rut just a little bit and you want to
expand, what if you did something small and manageable?
What if you explored the parks in your area. Have you been to
the parks in your city? Do you know what they offer? Do you
know what they have? Do you know what's there? Makes them
special? I haven't been to my Zoo, and the Oklahoma City zoo
is pretty amazing. I haven't been there in several years. I
could take a trip to the zoo. Doesn't take a lot of time,
doesn't take a lot of money. It's not really physically
strenuous now that I have my knee replaced before I have my
knee replaced, it would have been, but now it is not so. What
if you did that? That could be sparking some ideas and interest
in you as you enjoy the new park or maybe the zoo. We also have
an omni Plex with. That, oh, I don't know they show shows about
the stars. What's that called? I don't know it's a thing, but
it's super fun. I've been many times over my years. What about
foods? Are you in a rut and you say, Oh, I don't like that. I'm
not eating it. Okay? You know who you are when you do that?
Me, it's onions. I'm not going to eat onions or mushrooms.
Don't try to make me it's not going to happen, but I'll try
other things. We were in aldicitis, Spain, and we were at
a hotel waiting for a ride, but we had to wait, like over an
hour. So we went to the restaurant to eat, and I
ordered. It was bizarre, chicken curry with fruit and rice. I had
no idea what I was getting. I asked the gentleman, Is it spicy
hot? Hot? And he goes, No, just a little bit. It's fine. Well,
as it turns out, it was not too spicy hot. I love hot things.
They don't necessarily like me. So it was delicious. And you
know what? The fruit was sliced apples, and it was delicious. It
was a nice combination with the curry and the chicken and the
rice. It just went together really well. I would have never
ordered that. I typically don't like goat cheese. I was at a
retreat, and the person who hosted it had gotten an Airbnb,
and one of the gals there had gone to the grocery store and
gotten some goat cheese and crackers. And she said, have you
tried goat cheese? And I said, Well, I think I have. I think I
like it, but I don't really remember. And she literally put
some on her fingers and stuck it in my mouth before I could I
could even say anything or react, and I was like, Oh, this.
I don't like this. I don't like this at all. It was all I could
do to swallow it and not spit it on the table. And those of you
who've known me for years, you know I'm not opposed to spitting
out what I don't like on the table at a restaurant. I'm
embarrassed to say it, but it has happened when I bit into a
raw onion. Automatic reflex. I got here we had dinner at this
beautiful Italian restaurant. I think it was called casa tua. I
don't know. I don't speak Italian at all, so I probably
butchered the tua part. But we ordered a goat cheese, baked
goat cheese, or was it grilled? One of the two doesn't matter,
with honey and apples, and the apples were cooked, and then it
was on this beautiful bed of greens, which sometimes I'm very
picky about salad dressing, and I don't know what kind of
dressing it was. It was amazing, like we split it, thank God, but
it was phenomenal. Well, now I know I like goat cheese in
Spain. Do I like it in the US? Maybe not, but I love the goat
cheese here. Now I'm going to have to look where did this goat
cheese come from? Was it important from Spain? I might
like it. I would have never tried it. Oh, they also had
toasted walnuts in there. It was amazing. Several nights later,
we're at a restaurant. We're just going to have tapas, and
tapas are just little snacky foods, and they had toast with
ham, baked goat cheese and drizzled in honey. Well, now
that I know I like goat cheese in Spain, I ordered that. It was
delicious. It was delicious. I think it was supposed to be one
of those appetizers you share. And my two friends spit, split
one of the little squares of toast, and I ate all but one. I
could have eaten the last one, but I may not have been able to
get out of my seat if I had it. Was really too much. It was
amazing. That's an adventure. I would have never gone on like
that was kind of a stretch for me. Was eating goat cheese. So
you might say, I don't want to do adventurous things. Maybe you
need to try goat cheese at a really fun restaurant. What
about working out? Do you work out? Okay? Well, if you don't,
okay, take on my 12 minute thing, walk for 12 minutes. Walk
out of your house, walk down the street for six minutes. Set a
timer on your watch or your phone, turn around and walk back
for another six minutes. You get your 12 minutes in. Do that a
couple times a day before you know you've been working out for
30 minutes. Do you go to the gym? Pick it in our class, try
something new. I actually went to spin class A couple years
ago. The thing that was embarrassing about that was
everyone in there was 1015, 20 years older than I am, and it
was all I could do at various points, just to hang on to the
bike with my legs sort of moving. Spin classes are hard,
ladies and gentlemen, and those old people were so sweet. They
all clapped for me when the class was over. And I was like,
Oh, thank you. I mean, I accepted the applause, right?
And they said, You didn't fall off the bike. That's a good
thing. And I was like, awesome. I went back to a second class,
and. Was a different instructor, and I said, I need you to put my
feet in these things, because you put them in these stirrups
and you bind them or whatever. I don't know. I didn't even try. I
had them get me locked in and unlocked Have you ever gone to a
spin class? Add that try that maybe the time you're spending
in the gym isn't long enough. Maybe you need to up your
endurance, pick something manageable and doable and make
it an adventure. We went on a we went on a ferry ride over to
say, You that which is a Spanish city on the continent of Africa.
And I'll do a whole separate thing on that, because it was
quite the story to tell. And we crossed over and got there, and
it was pouring down rain the whole way. It was a very rough
ride over. It was pouring down rain when we were there. It
finally led up, and we walked around, did some shopping, ended
up having a very lovely time. Thank goodness. It was a short
adventure. We only had, like, three hours there total, and it
was enough. It was enough. If the sun had been shining and it
had been warm, it would have been a little different
experience. But we got to do what we wanted to do. The goal
was to go to the continent of Africa. And I had been there
once before, many years ago, but my two friends had not so now.
All three of us went together to Africa. We all bought fun gifts.
It was just a wonderful thing. Oh, by the way, the gifts for me
were only for me. I didn't buy gifts for anybody else, only for
me. But it was an adventure, and it didn't take all day. Once we
got there, it took all day from the time we left our house till
we got back, but our time there was short. It was three hours
that was all. Pick something you can do that will open up your
imagination, open up your ID, your mind, to the possibility of
other adventures, other things you can do again. It does not
have to be extreme. So what are some of the stories that are
holding you back? That first one that came to mind as I was
putting together my notes for this episode were, stop. You'll
get hurt. You'll hurt yourself.
We all heard that from our mom and or our dad growing
up like you're going to hurt yourself. Don't do that, you're
going to hurt yourself. You don't have to pick an adventure.
That's a dangerous thing. People are into that. That's great and
groovy for them. But I'm not into that. I
don't want to get hurt at all. So if that's
the story that's been going through your head all of these
years, how many every years old you are consider am I not doing
this because I'm hearing that message, stop, you'll get hurt.
And ask yourself, does that have to be true for me? May not have
to another thing is I don't have the time. I'm in Spain for a
month. It has been magical. It has been wonderful. Would I do
it again? Absolutely. The place where we're staying is
phenomenal. And yeah, I would stay here again. All of this is
great. Can people take off a month and come to Spain? Maybe,
maybe not. I work remotely. I need a laptop, a microphone, my
little camera. I'm pretty good to go. I've gotten quite a bit
of work done, but I've done more probably, but I also had fun and
had an adventure on it. So it's not necessarily the time. Maybe
you don't want to come to Spain, maybe you just want to go to the
next state over for some music festival. It can be a weekend.
I'm really a big proponent of as many little mini vacations as
you can take, any three day weekends, four day weekends. Do
it? Go for it. It's magical. It's fun. It's rejuvenating. You
meet new people, you try new foods, new smells, new sounds.
Do that? It doesn't have to take a lot of time. The other thing
that I hear all the time is money doesn't grow on trees.
Well, it kind of does, because it's made out of a form of
paper, so it kind of grows on trees. Does it have to be super
expensive? No, my friend and I that rented this apartment in
Marbella. We invited various friends. I invited my husband.
He couldn't take the time off, and we have a dog that he was
afraid, you know, nobody would want to keep her. Other people
were saying, Oh, I have the money. I don't have the time.
Literally, you could take a seven day trip, a day to get
here, basically, because it takes a while, five days here
and a day to get home, so seven days. So is it that expensive? I
don't know. We had plenty of beds for people to sleep in and
food, and it's not ridiculous. And we ate some food and
some snacks here. So question yourself. That is my
urge to you. Question your. Yourself on the stories you have
going through your head of why you're not being more
adventurous. You'll get hurt. You don't have the time, and you
have no money, if you can't start breaking those ideas and
those thought patterns out yourself and clearing them away.
FYI, I'm an energy healer. I can help you with that, and I can
help you clear it away. And guess what? You don't have to
relive the trauma. You don't have to talk about it, you don't
have to cry.
We can quickly and easily identify what's
holding you. You back and we set our intention to clear it, and
poof is gone. Guess what? Sessions are on the calendar for
15 minutes, but
it only takes 12 or less. So click on the Discovery
call button, book a call thing in the in the show notes, and
book a call. I think it might be Jennifer takagi.com, forward
slash, Discovery call. That might be it. I don't know, but
look in the show notes.
You're on your phone. You're listening anyway.
Just scroll down. It's no big deal. It's right there. So be
more adventurous, reactive. I can talk I'm a professional.
Reactivate that adventurous side and do something new. I
challenge you. I urge you. I'm being very hopeful for you that
you'll do something adventurous in the next few days. I'm
Jennifer Takagi, and I look forward to connecting with you
soon. You.
